Liverpool Turnaround Terminal.
Liverpool has now been granted turnaround status for cruise liners,it is now just a matter of having it rubber stamped by the European Commission. The amount to be repaid is 9 million in one go or 12.6 million over 15 years. Our friends in Southampton are gobsmacked and still moaning about it.The amount tobe paid back is British taxpayers money Southampton are not happy about that they want Liverpool to repay the European money which went toward the building of the landing stage. The first cruise (I think it's Fred Olsen) leaves from the stage the end of this month.
Regards.

The River Has Rised Again !!!!!!
Alway,s had faith that my home city and the Mersey would rise again . This is gr8 news. Its upset a few people in Southampton. Which they are putting down to money ??????? This city will pay the government back plus if that what it takes. Lets not forget Churchill moved operations from Bristol to Liverpool because it was more central as in geographic for 2nd world war convoy,s and distribution. The cruise ships may well follow his ideology as it makes sence. All we want is a level playing field let the bloods decide were the future lies as in cruise ships. I just get the feeling sailing out of one of the most historically well known ports in the world is more appealing than Southampton. Good luck Southampton time will tell Regards Terry.

I would have thought that a man like Paul MacCartney would have volunteered to pay the 9,000,000 pounds for Liverpool, just to put something back into the City that helped to create his wealth. It would be nothing for him, and What is he saving up for at his age ? he is only worth around 1,000,000,000 pounds.
Cheers
Brian
