Good News for Lairds, I hope it brings in more orders , they built some good ships in their time, including the Maury and Ark Royal, I am going on the Gourock to Dunoon Ferry in three weeks, so its good bye to them.
I am in the Eldonian on Thursday meeting Joe Finnegan who is over from Oz.Joe was well known on the Cunard and CPR Boats in the 50s.
Cheers
Brian

Jimmy,
I've heard the term "Lavender Ladies" mentioned several times on the site but don't know what it refers to. I thought it was just another name for the fruit stewards on the passenger boats. I'm obviously wrong, duh!! Wanna explain to this dumb ass. Thanks mate.

Thanks Mate, that explains it. Another question, is Cammel Lairds in Birkenhead? I remember AJ and I paying off a tanker after taking her to a dry dock in Birkenhead, thought that might have been Cammel Lairds.

Good news for the company. Lets just hope that the ugly face of militancy does not raise its head again on Merseyside in the forthcoming years and destroy the optimism.
