Sea Odyssey
The City Of Liverpool has over the past 3 days put on a spectacular show so much so that it has drawn crowds over the 3 days to the tune of 1 Million. The show is based on a letter sent by a little girl to her father on the Titanic which he obviously did not recieve, and a letter from her father to her.I must admit I did not get off my backside and go and see the show, quite honestly I can't stand being in crowds and being hustled and bustled.I have been following it on the radio and TV..The story is her uncle is a diver and he has been walking the sea bed for years looking for the mail box off the Titanic to find the letter from the girls father.Last friday he came up out of the dock, what a sight, he is seventy foot tall.Today they passed the White Star building with the mail box, here hundreds of letters were dropped on the crowd these written by Liverpool people purporting to be crew or passengers and using their imagination. It culminated with the uncle, the little girl (30ft high)and her dog going aboard a River Weaver barge the James Jackson Grundy and sailing away.Ther are various sites where it can be seen but I believe there will be good coverage of it on BBC 1 Monday &pm.Dont miss it weel worth a look.
Regards.

PS I think the original letter from the girl is on display at the Maritime Museum at the Titanic exibition.

I would have liked to go and see it, but now they have removed all the free car parks by the Dock and are now charging £2 an hour it makes it an expensive day out. 8 hours is £16 pounds on top of the petrol to get there is too much, the City certainly does not encourage tourism anymore.
Used to park at the Eldonian Club and then walk for 25 minutes to the Pier Head. Even the Eldonian has cut down on parking spaces.
I will see it on TV Thanks for telling us.
Cheers
Brian.

at first i thought what a load of crap the council paying out over £1000 000 to put on the event then i watched it .and even to an old moan it is worth every penny and together with the story behind the show{wich i believe is on tv in full} so i wont spoil it. it is unbelievable and ok the council has to get some money back the revenue for staff working and closing half the city down it was most entertaining and well worth a look. for once they got it right but you can see for yourself truly amazing.and a credit to our great city.JP
