divi
think i've got some sort of confession to make re the co-op divi scenario. 'When i were a lad' i had a bit of an enterprise going where i would offer to do the shopping for those neighbours who for whatever reason were unable to do it themselves. Armed with several shopping lists including our own i would visit the local co-op. I also had all the respective divi numbers along with each order, but i was under strict instructions to offer up only our own. Therefore not only was i getting a few extra bob for messages but also extra divi every quarter. Not very ethical i agree, however i don't think anyone ever went hungry----- i certainly didn't.

Allways part of the Co Op
Hi Shipmates, The C.W.S. or the Co.Op are a cradle to the grave company. I am still an active member, and vote every year and support them in many of they world-wide justifiable protest. charitys , and splendid projects.The price in the super markets has gone very expensive over last few years ? but the prouducts are not bought by them by short changing the farmers and growers? .So long term every one of they supplyers can educate they children, make a profit and have a good standard of living in the U.K. and abroad.{ the best way}

CWS was the wholesale arm of the movement.Every area had its own co-op i.e the oldham co-op society an each society was a member of the CRS(co-op retail society) and purchased their goods from cws.

CRS and CWS amalgamated some years ago , some of their areas were actually similar , retail societies and federated co-op's had similar businesses to an extent , the manufacturing was though mainly CWS UK . The bank and insurance arms are very successful , and they have streamlined some operations . The transport and distribution once part of the ACC federation then taken in by CWS , is now owned and managed by the French ( ? ) Norbert Dentressangle .
