No, Eifion, it is the government to blame for the many cuts, but the unions just wont listen and try to reach a compromise and the immigrants just take the few jobs there are on any pay. They are all to blame.

Ship sinks in Irish Sea
TV news reporters last night seemed to me to be taking their eyes off the ball as usual. Not so much emphasis on the fact that seafarers were lost. More interest in the fact that Prince William was involve in the rescue. Media!!!!

Hi All.
Got some newspaper cuttings from my sister in Wales about the closure of the mumbles coastgaurd, they say you learn from history, apparently the Consevative Govt in Britain hasn't; otherwise they would remember the Samtampa going down with all hands; along with the crew of the Mumbles lifeboat. Britain is surrounded by seas and ships bring in all their goods, they need a good effiecent lifeboat service. Like you all the news on TV here was about the Prince being a co/pilot.
God rest their souls. dead over a ministers whim.
Cheers Des

having two sons in the building trade both time served one joiner one plasterer born in the UK Liverpool is a hive of building at the moment BUT a lot of EU migrants workers don't pay council tax don't have a mortgage to pay are classed as self employed {till the income tax is due} live in bed sit land mainly run by gang-masters? so as you can plainly see the migrant labour is a few hundred quid ahead of the British workers? i have subsidised my sons through their apprenticeship's hoping they would have a good life ? both hardworking boys not wanting to live of the state knowing there is work out there but it is being snapped up by cheep labour its not a case of booting migrants out but sort British workers back to work so that they can and will contribute to the country this is a fact of today i know first hand not just something out of the press?john

He is damned if he is in the news and damned if he isnt. Fair doos.
Lot of people say he does nothing, Others say he is a SAR pilot.so he gets critisised again.
I have flown with the helicopters in South Africa, we rescued 27 survivors off the Arosa, of Limasol, off the Cape in a screaming gale, and believe me, it was wet your knickers time. but we did it because of the skills of the Helicopter Pilots. So good luck to him and the other Pilots , in those situations they needs a lot of luck.
He doesnt write to the papers and the TV News saying` What a good guy I am`, it is the press that does it.
Cheers
Brian.

re SWANLAND
Was on the itn news today, 2nd officer ans 1 crew member saved, 2nd officer stated she was hit by an extra large wave and rolled so far over she could not return, that is a bad area there, was on thv siren ar anchor in a bad gale, engines kept running, she almost went over, we up anchored and steered for swansea, the seas were like mountains, we had water in the accomodation, a scary place to be on a small ship. So sad it happened

Small ship like that should have been sheltering somewhere - I wonder why they were not.
Chris.
.
.
Hi Chris,
As I said on the previous page, If the Master does not take it out then they will get some one else to do it.
Sheltering costs money, If ship and cargo are insured , no problem, if the crew die, no problem, plenty more where they came from.
This happens quite often .
Cheers
Brian.

The Irish Sea can be as bad as any sea in the world. My first experience of its bad habits was when the Princ ess Victoria sank in January 1953, 135 deaths. We could not find her.
Then in November 1954, I was coming down the Irish Sea on a Shell tanker in a terrible storm that lasted and lasted. A WORLD tanker, World Glory? . broke in half. then the Tresillian, one of Haines, homeward bound capsised and sank with around 40 dead, and the the Grainville sank with great loss of life plus many others.
Cheers
Brian.
