Eiffion .Don"t want to intrude on this present tragedy.
But in january 1951 ,en route Port Talbot to Fleetwood Broke down ,in a severe Gale .Cargo .drums of Carbide. 339 tons ship Kindeisel.
Whilst huddled in the Saloon ,in the dark, recall the Mate. Jackie Burns ,from Port Talbot .saying "if we get out of this
We were told by the A>b. who:d just come down from the Bridge, ,"we can see a flashing light close." The chap I"d releiived Said" the Lights getting closer " < my turn up there> The Captain was on the Radio ,non stop .'Holyhead lifeboat < Holyhead lifeboat' By now the Light was lighting upnhe Ship as it came round.Seas were pounding on the Hatch containing the Carbide,
. Scary!
The tide had turned anD slowly we were drifting away from the Loom of the Light.
Long story short <
Coastal tanker 'Pass of Balmaha,(used to see her in Sharpness locks ,whien at at the VINDI.) arrived ,going round us pumping out oil to reduce the intensity of the Waves hitting the Hatch. The NEW BRIGHTON LIFEBOAT stood by
Press in the LOCKS ,Shouting up quetions "anybody hurt ?etc> The M ate was answering them>
Apparently ,on reading the papers the Holyhead lifeboat had been forced to turn back>
SUMMATION , The CAPT.was magnificent
reason for this EIFION Iis > I never did know which light it could have been Imagine it could well have been Bardsey?
Also like to point out in Cardiff>
Alongside < it required a team of Liverpool shore workers to lever the lifeboat from the Chocks.AND THE Marine Super ordered that the Engine be completly removed>> Myself and the other remaning ,Deck_ Hand were Given warrants back to Cardiff

Hi Len, that is true....from todays paper...............
The Ministry of Defence has already announced its intention to axe its fleet of Sea King helicopters by March 2016.
Transport Secretary Justine Greening yesterday confirmed that after this date, contracts for search and rescue work will be awarded to civilian crews.Read more: News | Mail OnlineBritain-looks-scrapping-RAF-role-search-rescue-helicopter-service.html#ixzz1f58ubZUS
Some SAR stations are to close and the others will be cotracted to private companies, who obviously are in the business to make a Profit.
Also will civilian SAR operatives have the same dedication as a RAF crew.??
What is this cheap and nasty country coming to, what happens if some foreign company wins the contract and then refuses to go out as it is a little dangerous.
I despair of this once great country.

I have just thought about when SAR becomes a private company, The Health and Safety lot will be taking over as it will be a civilian company and the Pilots will be Civilians. The helicopters wont be allowed to fly during bad weather, The Trade Unions will be involved, they will say the Pilots can only be on duty for so many hours a day, so half way through a rescue they will leave the casualties and go home.
Then there will be wage, pension, working conditions, disputes, and what about a Tea Break or Smoko, all out on strike and the casualties will just have to perish.
What a stupid country we have become. and No One Cares. No one is Interested.
HAVE A NICE DAY.
Brian

Brian mate you arte so right. The world now is run and controled by the PC brigade and minority groups. It is now not a question of what can be achieved, but rather what you can no longer do in case you upset one of these moronic groups.

Happy daze John in Oz.

Sorry Lads I am not hijacking this post but just a reflection on the world we live in and the extraordinary values that people have that reflects the malaise being encountered in our once great country both political and social
On the news today, a mother from Sussex took her three young sons up north to pay her tributes to Raul Moat explaining the man was a great role model for her children..........this is the man who shot his girlfriend, her new boyfriend and blinded a police officer before running amok in his home town firing at all and sundry before committing suicide............this is what she considers a role model, what chance do her children have, or what chance does society have when people like this are around. Apparently she is not alone in her idolitary of this man
Again my apologies for intruding on this post but thought it may explain the attitudes we now beginning to see as considered normal

I cannot understand why the Government is cutting Coast Guard Stations and Search and Rescue.
They say it is because we cannot afford them, we are broke, so they say.
Now that Loon Hune, Lib/Dem, the Climate Change Secretary, has just announced he is giving our Tax Payers money, mine and yours, of £300,000,000 to Africa to stop climate change there. IT IS NOT HIS TO GIVE, IT IS OURS.
Now people like Mugabe and all the other Dictators will be rolling over in millions of pounds laughing at the Stupid Brits while Seafarers around the British Coast are losing their lives.
The only thing that will stop climate change in Africa will be to send 300,000,000 Morning After pills.
Have a nice day, you hear ?
Brian.

re last post
I TOTALLY AGREE WITH U, SURELY OUR S.A.R. IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN AID FOR CORRUPT NATIONS, ? BUT I AM AFRAID THEY WONT LISTEN TO US, THEY KNOW BETTER, THEY THINK, ! DID U SEE HOW MUCH MONEY THE M.O.D WASTED ON ADVISERS, THAT ALONE WOULD PAY FOR S.A.R AND COASTGUARDS, THIS SHOWER WANT PUTTING DOWN. THEY DONT GET PAY CUTS, BUT ARE GOOD AT CUTTING OTHERS PAY AND PENSIONS. THEY ARE UTTERLY OUT OF TOUCH WITH THE REAL WORLD.

Wasting tax payers money on the most rediculous things is something politicians ahve turned into an art form. Precious souls lost at sea just because some Ricjard cranium in parliament considers the lives of some bombastic dictator in a foreign country of more importance. But you are not alone in this, we have a prize set of plonkers here in Oz, just as bad as your lot. Billions given away to some no hope overseasa while at home we have peole in dire need of food and shelter. It would appear the gov attitude is, 'not my problem'!

Should imagine you wrote the above, John, before To-da'ys Papers ."hit the Streets"
Front page,C ourier Mail. Julie Gillard.gets a rise of 90,000 dollars. Taking her income to above that of Pres. Obama.
The reality is the General Public have been turned into a very large group of Masochists.Being forced to vote for these Clowns , under threat of a fine.
Talking of Clowns , ,the Panto season is upon us .we have our home made Mother Goose.Wouldn't even need csotume or rehearsal..
One of the things that amazes me ! periodically large amount s of Cash aid is given to Indonesia . .They have a Vast amount of Arms ,Planes, Ships.
Oz dozen have enough Craft to even contain the illegal 'REFUGEE'S)? boats, emanating from indonesia.
the 'Catch Cry. here from the Pollies, is Vote or you get the Government you deserve.
End of story!
