I wonder how long it will be before the Old Soldiers , Sailors and airmen ,will be on this earth , those who joined in 1945 were all born in 1928 so the youngest WWII veteran is 83 , we seem to have forgotten Korea already , The Falklands is a fading memory . I noticed when Charlie Gilmore desecrated the Cenotaph by swinging off the Union Flag , got a suitable 16 months punishment that his rich parents are appealing against , his excuse was he did not know it was a war memorial , and he was high as a kite , and he really wants to finish his studies because he was a bright student . Me ! I an a Sadist , I would let him study for six months in Afghanistan in the front line , then he might get the message , , Someone DIED !!!! to save spoilt little brats like him , so they could have the right to protest . Wonder if there is a cell to pop a couple of the brethren of Trinity House in so they can regain the plot too . I was too late to remember WWII , but we had a neighbour with Shell Shock that we kids use to laugh at because he walked the streets talking to himself , My late Father did a lot for the British Legion , he introduced me to some Ex Japanese and German PoWs some of their stories would keep you awake at night , not that any of them ever told them .

And now a 900 year old pillar of the state as Trinity House wants to have a party on a war memorial . I think I will go and kick the neighbours cat !!, I am so angry over this disrespect !!!

That Charlie Gilmore is Studying History at University.
This proves that Uni is not a place of learning . it is a place for Yobs who do not want to go to work but to get drunk, and take drugs.
even as a small boy of five I knew what the Cenotaph was, I did not go to University but I knew my countries history.
Now the Frightening thing is , these drunken drug soaked Yobs, who know nothing of anything at University are your future Politicians and leaders. It is little wonder the country is in such a state.

I think some of the Trinity House Bretheren must have gone to University to study History.
They know as much about it as Gilmore.

How not to do public consultations

You might be forgiven for missing this but Tower Hamlets Council is currently holding a public consultation on its strategy for investment in parks and open spaces within the borough. The summary document and a link to a survey are here.

The consultation runs until October 28, so there’s not long to get your views in.

The document maps the borough’s parks which are considered as priorities for investment to bring them up to Green Flag standard. The Council has also identified Bethnal Green, Shoreditch, Fish Island, Poplar Riverside and Bromley-by-Bow as five locations in which more park space needs to be created.

The four-page document is easy to read through and the survey is straightforward to use. It invites residents to rank by importance a variety of factors that make parks pleasant places.

As always, however (and Tower Hamlets is not alone in this), the real art to consultations is to ensure that you end up with the answers you want – which may not necessarily be the answers people might want to give you.

You would think that given the recent dispute about the use of Trinity Square Gardens for a month of Christmas parties and the Mayor’s brave determination to halt the plans in honour of the war dead the publicity given to the U-turn might have included a mention that the council is currently reviewing its parks policy, and have encouraged residents to have their say.

    Or maybe not.

Because calling residents to action would expose the gaping hole in the consultation: that despite the Trinity Gardens saga (and the long-running problems associated with the endless use of Victoria Park for summer festivals) the survey fails to address the policy on the closure of parks for events.

The new Deputy Master of TRINITY HOUSE is now Captain Ian McNought, the last Master of QE2,
The rear Admiral has retired so I hope that the Captain will be more sympathetic to the Memorial Gardens.
The report is in THE TELEGRAPH of Nautilus.
