Thanks for that Chris, gives me a degree of measurement of the man. As Kong has stated capt McNaught is the Deputy Master Designate, but I do not expect a reply from him as he was a c.c. recipient and doubt he would rock the boat when he is next in line for Deputy Master, but he will be c.c. again in my response to Sir Jeremy's letter. This saga looks as if it is only just beginning.

    Default Tower Hill Memorial

I have just been on the Tower Hamlets site and downloaded the following:
The largest memorial in Tower Hamlets is the Merchant seaman’s memorial at Trinity Garden, Tower Hill. The memorial itself is maintained by the Commonwealth war graves commission and the council maintains the surrounding gardens in partnership with the Corporation of London.
Maybe a couple more carefully worded letters are required

    Default Nautilus:

Nautilus general secretary Mark Dickinson welcomed the announcement. ‘We believe the concept of parties taking place at this venue is not only an insult to those the memorial honours, but also to their families and descendants,’ he added. ‘The Mayor’s statement is a welcome recognition of the outcry this ill-conceived plan generated and members should be congratulated for making their views known so quickly and effectively. We hope this will ensure appropriate respect for this site is maintained and that the Merchant Navy memorial is respected in the same way as any other public site to honour the war dead.’

    Default A respectful suggestion

As members are all too aware this is a serious issue which, as a community, we are trying to get to the bottom of and ensure that it is never allowed to happen in the future. Ivan has kindly taken the task onboard the unenviable task of compiling letters to those seen to be instrumental in this travesty.

At this point may I respectfully suggest that this thread is kept for directly pertinent information and for members to air their comments regarding the current situation concerning our campaign for truth and accountability.

The Moving Venues and Bankers part in this is now incidental and a distraction from the principals at hand. We are all aware that everyone is jumping on the band wagon to have their belated say in what has already happened and it serves little purpose highlight those comments in this thread. I believe that there is a tandem thread running which perhaps would be a more suitable place for that information.

I have noticed that a lot of organisations are jumping on the bandwagon of spouting their participation in the "party cancellation project" I had checked the websites of many of them prior to the cancellation and their comments "were conspicuous by their absence" but any support is now welcome.

If it's possible would it be possible for the moderators to create a new forum "Trinity House Results" shift over my letter to Sir Jeremy and his response to that forum so that we can keep track and of course all can post their comments on the Trinity House saga on that forum, that will leave this forum clear for members to vent their fury about Moving Venues and others on this site.

I will endeavour to do my best to pursue the matter with Trinity House and I will also write to the Princess Royal who is the "Master" of Trinity House. I will have consider each letter carefully to try and illicit responses rather than them being cast into Davey Jones Locker.

Of course all views are welcome

I have read the letter of reply and it seems to me that the wording of it was a complete put down, as if he was saying I am the big chief and who the hell do you think you are. I would have thought that a charity of this size and according to the letter has "good governance " then surely all meetings would be minuted and show what discussions took place and by whom. I also think it may be an idea that Ivan, names this site in any future correspondence (subject to Brian's approval). I also agree that it may be best to start a new thread but that they should be linked.
    Thanks Lads

Ian the letter to Sir Jeremy has been composed, but not yet sent. As a matter of courtesy to Brian I have delayed sending it until Brian has read it, as both he and the site are mentioned there-in.

It would seem that the general concenus is the Sir Jeremy's letter was both condescending in tone and also a dismissal, however he has failed to realise that we will not go away with - "a doffed cap and about turn" and return to our proper station below decks!

The letter to Trinity House has been sent, as Brian has no objection to its content, I have asked him to put it on site
