    Hi Davey,
That was a very interesting article. I think the only person who was right all along was the Second Officer, who pointed out the corect course and was overridden by all his senior men and the Pilot taking things into his own hands.
When ever I had a Pilot on board we always logged in the log book, "Courses to Masters Orders and Pilots Advice." Obviously in this case it wasnt.
I thought there was only one place in the world where this was different and that is the Panama Canal. where the Pilot is in full command of all movements.
Squat was a well known event for many years, we always applied it way back in the 70s.
    Interesting.
    Cheers
    Brian.

thanks for that info about the draught.
Must remember when sailing my boat in the bath.
Only joking as it is good info + I don't have a bath in the house now .
    I mean I have a shower.

A truly universal maritime abbreviation "CVTMO & PA" (Course Various To Masters Orders & Pilots Advice). In 36 years in command made no difference what nationality the officers were the same was entered in the log when the Pilot boarded. Subtle differences in other area but this remained cast in stone.
