    Greetings Gordon,
Thanks for your reply, always nice to chat to people who have woked in the same area as me.
I have actually been to the Wilbros camp in PH for what reaason now I forget and worked along side some of the Wilbross Guys.
Qua Iboe Terminal at Eket I worked there for seven & a half years but that was in the days when it was all a nice big happy family so to speak but now its all gone to pot, I think I got out just in time however I did work offshore for Mobil now Exxon/Mobil on two diferent maintenance barge/boat the "Royal Service" & the "African Seaworker"
Escravos well I have also been there and we had a contract offshore for awhile you might even know some of the lads that work there now that used to work for Mobil if you mention my name I am sure they will remember me, a couple of names that come to mind are Jeff Doyle, Chris Hickson Alan Jones, anyway it will be nice to hear if you do work with any of them.
    Best wishes,
John Aspin (R685343) Ormesby - Middlesbrough

You could make a movie of that Vernon.
I guess the rest of us were lucky, we never got caught.

    Hi Capt
Believe me not only that episode but quite a few others good and bad, would really make the top ratings ! hahaa!
But i will stay stook ! for now anyway!
    Cheers and thanks!

And also thank you Ivan,i am privaleged to be able to converse with the likes of all of you good folk here!
I take my hat off to many here who have had so much Sea experience, and have given so much for us all!
    Thanks Lads! One and ALL!
Yes it was quite traumatic indeed, especially when one is so far from home, and there is no one you know to at least come and say a Hello!
But that put me in good stead for the upcoming experiences ahead!
    Cheers

    Hi Vern',

What a wonderfully varied and interesting life you have led. As Brian (Kong) has already said, you could make a movie from that experience alone. Have you ever thought of writing a book?. I applaud the courage you showed by sharing this episode in your life. Most of us, I'm sure, have things in our past which we regret, things that we are less than proud of and would much rather not talk about. That you chose to relate that story for the purpose of this thread, for me, reveals far more positive than negative things about your character as a man. As we say here in Oz - good onya mate.

Vernon what a fantastic story! I doubt if there is anybody on this site who would not have jumped at the chance to make a quick grand and do what you and your brother did. Well done both of you. By the way did you manage to keep the £1000.
    Regards,
    John

With a record , I am surprised you didn't get taken on as a Chief Steward with Clan line , although most of their crimes went undetected

OK I was only joking some of the Chief Steward/Pursers were honest , just I never sailed with one of them !!!!

Liked the story Vernon , glad you had teh courage to put it up , there by the Grace of God , many of us have nearly been ..........

I think we all agree that Vernon is a 'bloody fine bloke' who is only too willing to help others on this site. Wouldn't mind betting all his neighbours feel the same way. Good on yer Mate.

    Default To All

    Hi
To each and everyone of you who have said such nice things about my experience! THANK YOU!

As an honest Man (well theses days haha) i thought i just right to share this with you all,and i am to say the least amazed at how it has been taken!
But as said i suppose there are others around who may have had similar happen who knows!?
To answer a few questions, yes i have thought about writing a Book, but not for publishing as such, just for the Family and Friends!

And about that cash!! Well sad to say that most of it barring a few Quid allready spent was taken from us,and the Lord knows what happened to it after that! Wonder if the Law had their Xmas party on it haha!

Yes Lads there are many more stories about my life some really good and some also just as bad,but in all i have learnt the hard way all my life ,and it has forged my life to one of Honesty ,and hopefully a lot more sense these days !!

So again thank you to you ALL
Its well appreciated and so good to have Friends even though you all may be so far away!
    Take care
    Cheers!
