war of 1812 tall ships tour
Last weekend we had the opportunity to spend the whole weekend in the city of Brockville situated on the St Lawrence river seaway. They were hosting the 1812 tall ships great lakes commemorative tour. In all there were ten tall ships in attendance, the Sorlandet,( Norway)... Empire Sandy (can)...Pride of Baltimore (usa). these three are pictured in the tall ship gallery. The others were Mist of Avalon (can)...La Revenarte (can)...Unicorn (usa) all female crew....Liana's Ransome (can)... Fair Jeanne ( can) .... St Lawrence ll ... (can). On the Friday afternoon there was the blessing and sailpast, a truly magnificent sight with all the flags and bunting flying proud. not only was the weather perfect, you could not have had a better setting, the tall ships sharing the water way with the modern ships, three of which were westbound in transit, plus all the other pleasure craft in attendance. Could not have spent time in a better setting. They go on to Toronto for the next leg of the tour.
Have quite a few photo's of the area and ships, but will have to get Her to try and help me to post some. Hopefully stay tuned.
regards, stan
