Re: Covid Vacs
Problem with them coming from India is that many are now Australian citizens just coming home.
But to put things into perspective, here in Oz we have that one case and a few in hotel quarantine as returning traveler's, while in India yesterday some 23,000 new cases established!!!!!!!!!

Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: Covid Vacs
#100 John according to the SUN newspaper yesterday who are renowned for telling the truth lol. India recorded a further 315,000 new cases of Covid. It is
"triple mutant" variant of Covid-19. Only time will tell if the current vaccines offer protection. Very worrying times again. We now have the Indian variant here in the UK.

Re: Covid Vacs
My grandson who is on a apprenticeship with BA at Heathrow flew home for a few days, went back on Wednesday and yesterday was contacted by track & trace to tell him to self isolate as one of the passengers on his flight had covid, he told his supervisor and was sent home (his digs) to isolate for 5 days. He says there were 109 passengers on that flight so there are going to be a lot unhappy bunnies around. Den

Re: Covid Vacs
Have been checking Worldometer site since the pandemic began and yesterday India's deaths were 2,761 and they reported 349,313 new cases for the day.
Don't know where you got 23000 dead figure from.
This site seems to be very accurate for anyone interested in keeping up to date with nearly every country on earth's data and is very interactive.
Click on Europe and it will show all countries or click on country and see figures for about last 10 days or so.

Re: Covid Vacs
One of the major problems with the Virus is accounting for the death total.
It has been proven in UK, and no doubt other countries, that anyone who died in hospital was considered to have died from the Virus.
In India there ae so many other very bad diseases, Thyphus, Cholera, Yellow Fever, Malaria and so many more.
Just how many have died from Virus and from others is not accounted for.
Sad to say but viewing footage of the cremations make sit look like bonfire night on steroids.
But here in Oz at a time when we need all the medical staff we can get the State gov of Victoria has made any GP over the age of 70 retire due to the Virus.
I know of two such GP, very good and willing and able to continue, but gov says NO.

Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: Covid Vacs
The UK have gone the other way and appealed for retired doctors and nursing staff to contact the NHS for a spot of refresher training and become involved again in combating the pandemic. It would appear the call has been answered by a lot , thank you all who have answered the call and thank you NHS.

Re: Covid Vacs
Also Vic , don't forget the UK are doing that while the Eu Commissioners are doing their best to stop the UK importing the vaccines.
EU commissioners fiddle while Europe burns, my sons lives in Bordeaux, his in laws next door neighbour died last week she was only 40 and never even made it to hospital as she was self isolating. I asked him if the in laws are now in isolation and are they keeping away from them. He tells me no one in France or at least there area are paying any attention to the lock down restrictions even the police cannot be arsed anymore. Worrying times to say the least as far as we are concerned. Have not seen my grand children since July(apart from zoom) Little one said last week Grandma when can we come and stay with you and grumpy Grandpa, lump in throat and a tissue past to Karen.
