Chronic Loneliness
Research says that there are 9 million people in the UK suffering from chronic loneliness the researchers say that this loneliness is the equivalent to smoking 15 cigarettes a day.I wonder how they arrive at that figure.

Re: Chronic Loneliness
Fact is that in any western society that is about the correct figure.
Similar situation here in Oz where it is believed that there is one lonely person for every other 6 persons.
Figures are collated based on numbers supplied by a variety of agencies such as the Salvos, local GP and community centers.
the figures are assessed on the number of requests for assistance based on the lack of available family members to assist.

Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: Chronic Loneliness
When I had to fall back in September of 2014 I ended up doing rehab at the local hospital in Petersfield they had an awful lot of people there who appeared to have been abandoned by their family and you would sit having a quiet five minutes and they would come and talk to you it was amazing how many very lonely people there are in this world . What also surprised me is there a quite a few people there with different stages of Alzheimer's and dementia and you could see that their family who were their carers had put them into the hospital on respite some of those family members could be very intolerant and I think that drove the people more and more into their own little world
