Third time, four neat whiskies in a Glasgow pub called Granny Black's aged 17, had to stay overnight at my cousins as my mother would have killed me.... never touched it since!! Like a wee cocktail now or wine
That's what stopped me drinking whiskey Marian, in the course of an evening and night playing cards I went through a full
bottle of Johnie Walkers and was cold sober, that set the alarm bells going and I changed my drink to beer, I used to drink
Watneys red barrel it was good stuff long gone now. JF

Since those two big operations I had in Honolulu in 2013, I have hardly had a drop to drink.
Don't know what they did to me when I was under the anesthetic but ever since I just do not feel like having a drink.
Had my Birthday party two weeks ago and only had one glass of wine.
I have several bottles of Rum, Whisky, brandy, and gin, plus two cases of wine.
Just do not feel like having one.
I have a glass of wine with Sunday dinner and thats it.
and I used to be called `Alehouse` because of the time I used to spend in the alehouse, Not been in a pub now for over four years,
    Very odd.

I've also noticed how your taste in food changes as you age, things I wouldn't touch when I was younger are now enjoyed
and vice versa stuff I enjoyed then is now off the menu, am I alone in this or do others feel the same? . cheers JF

as someone once said, * i would hate to wake up in the morning knowing that was the best i was going to feel for day*, i remember the days of a liverner in the morning. I dread to think how many days pay i lost, by nipping ashore lunchtime for a quick pint, theres no such thing, go adrift for the day, so work all morning, session in the afternoon, lose one days pay. You could teach a monkey quicker, kt

My mother liked a drop of Advocate (that yellow Dutch Stuff that you make snowballs with) and when my Aunt (her sister) visited us they would go through a bottle of the stuff. At the time we had a Dachshund dog that used to lick the stuff off their fingers. Ever seen a drunk dachshund? one of the funniest things you will see ever.
For myself its Beer all the time but that Witney's Red Barrel was awful, actually had it on draft on one ship. John Smiths is my favourite but have been avoiding all ale for a couple of months as last time I imbibed went at*e over tit and smashed my shoulder up.
Having Scottish relatives, a decent Whiskey chaser is a must have when up in Edinburgh but of an evening you cannot beat a gin and tonic with ice cold gin and tonic.

Each to their own I suppose, In London Watneys red Barrel was a popular beer I've never touched gin the smell alone turns
me off, snowball was a woman's drink, not sure what else Advocate was used in as I never tasted the stuff, I think most of
todays beers taste the same after your second one. cheers JF
