Re: Is it really this bad?
We have to be grateful here in UK for our Health Service, the problem is , it is abused.
First we have to Charge for treatment ALL non British Citizens. that would save millions.
Where else in the world will they get Hospital treatment Free?
Last year in hospital, the ward full of immigrants from the Khyber region , they turned the ward and the bathroom into a sh17house.disgusting mess. I got out fast before I was even dignosed.
If they had to pay full price maybe they would have treated the hospital better. The poor Staff had to repeatedly clean up the crap. They could not tell them not to do it , No Speak English. they know enough English to claim Benefits.
I would also charge all the drunks who clog up the A&E every weekend. It is also self inflicted so why should the nation pay.

Re: Is it really this bad?
I have a friend in France, who constantly tells me what a wonderful system they have for health, what i can never get out of him is how much he has to pay for this health system. Also Australia etc, how much does your health cover cost?, in Canada it seems to be very expensive, and would they cover you with heart problems etc, just interested if anyone can enlighten me. I have to say where i live its a very good hospital, at times very busy, but as Kong says, Saturday night drunks should be charged KT

Re: Is it really this bad?
In Honolulu, it was quite interesting how much they charged for each item or treatment.
Each department had its own charges, Emergency Room, $650, board and lodgings, $$$$$$
Xrays $$$$$ MRI and CT Scans $$$$$$ ERCP $$$$ SURGERY $$$$$$ Dressings $$$$ and so on , Total $51,456, So each department had to be paid for what ever you had.
I had the impression that every department was a seperate business and that is what it was, just business that worked well together.
I gave the itemised bill to my son , he said he shows the treatment costs to certain Patients who complain about the Service in his hospital and that shuts them up.
But we had to work and pay NI AND TAXES for 50 years to pay for our treatment and
that is why I object to all the freeloaders pouring into our country using it for free,
Cheers

Re: Is it really this bad?
David Cameron has announced he intends to make it more difficult to claim benefits.
From next week the forms will only be printed in English.

Re: Is it really this bad?
Does Daves mate own a translating firm? Its a terrible thing when we don't trust any of them isn't it.Theres no doubt about it there will be translators paid to complete these forms or am I just being sceptical.I remember seeing a list of languages on the hostpital reception desk in Liverpool, the patient pointed to the language and the receptionist phoned for that interpreter to attend.A young Chinese girl was sitting with an old Chinese woman,I thought maybe is was her grandmother,a young Chinese man came in looking for someone he spotted the young Chinese girl, the next thing they were talking they were both interpreters (he was looking for another Chinese patient) and were there for that purpose to earn money.I wonder just how much it costs the NHS for interpreter services, surely that old Chinese woman had a member of her family that could've attended.
Regards.

Re: Is it really this bad?
Hi John.
Molly had the misfortune to fall in the bedroom, and was in agony.
We phoned for an ambulance which came in about twenty minutes.
She was taken to Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen by 7.00am,was
assessed and xrayed and was in the theater by 9.00 until 1.30 with
a fractured hip. They could not do enough for her, stall were really great.
They had her standing up on the Tuesday, hobbling about on the Wednesday
and was sent home on the Thursday. She had a nurse call every day to
inject her against blood clotting, for four weeks, and once again these nurses
could not do enough for,so we must speak as we find, and we cant fault with
the treatment she got.
