I read a very interesting article today on a plant-based in British Columbia. They are extracting the C02 from the atmosphere using extraction fans, mixing it with Hydrogen from water and turning it into liquid fuel. They say that it will burn in any internal combustion engine as a clean burn with carbon-neutral efficiency. The plant is being run by solar electricity. If true it would be certainly a big advancement regardless of opinion. Reckon on building them globally. I tried to load the link but would not load so maybe it's a maybe. We will have to wait and see I guess They also claim the fuel can be burnt by any car, truck, tractor or airplane etc. without any modifications. Did not mention ships?

Ken, interesting concept buy Hyundai have already got a Hydrogen car on the market.
California has been experimenting with such cars for a number of year now.

But with Co2 at only 3% of gasses in the atmosphere why would you bother?
We need Co2 to be absorbed by trees and plants to produce oxygen.

Hi John, The concentration of carbon dioxide in Earth's atmosphere is currently at nearly 412 parts per million (ppm) and rising. This represents a 48 percent increase since the beginning of the Industrial Age when the concentration was near 280 ppm and an 11 percent increase since 2000 when it was near 370 ppm according to science. I have no understanding of the physics behind the claims of this report. They are mentioning the cost of electric vehicles to be in the range of fifty trillion dollars to replace vehicles from internal combustion engines when all that is needed is to change the fuel of our existing transport infrastructure including air travel. They claim that the pump prices would be the same and the fuel produced is carbon neutral as their plant runs from regenerated electricity. They are speaking of at least one hundred thousand plants globally. Almost sounds fictional but if correct would have thought regardless of opinions to climate change would be a step in the right direction. I just wonder how this would sit with "big oil" and associated politics if correct?

Ken, you made a valid point there, how will the oil barons cope?
They do have a hold on many countries still, no longer the USA as they are now self sufficient.
But many of the small South Sea islands produce power from diesel generators, which is odd when you consider they could have some solar.

It is hard to comprehend how Co2 and Methane, both gasses heavier than air, can reach so high into the stratosphere?
According to our Meterology here in Oz the inversion layer is the biggest causeof the problem.

I would consider that since the industrial revolution of 1750 to about 1895 Co2 would have dropped.

But of course depending what scale you use to measure and when it is done will also have a bearing on the out come.

But to show how people can be dumbed down, a German company specializing in overseas accommodation has put Melbourne in the top 5 cities most likely to be effectd by the climate.
Claiming we will run out of drinking water.
Bit sad as we have one of the largest desalinations plants there is and can more than cope with drought.

The group that I act with as a volunteer on Friday had a guest speaker this week.
A scientist from the natural state museum section on animal life.
He has been before to give a similar talk, brining several specimens of animals and reptiles all of which are stuffed and mounted.

But this was more a talk about the effect of the recent bush fires and the effect on animals.

There has been suggestions that over one billion may have perished.

He disputes the claim explaining how, some creatures such as Lizards, Roos, Birds, Rats and Mice along with many other small mammals have senses so strong they can know a fire is coming from as much as ten kilometers away and will move in the opposite direction of it.
Koalas how ever being a much slower moving animal are not so lucky.

There is talk of possible extinction of some, again he rejects the claim explaining how from previous fires when similar claims have been made they have been unfounded.
He also went on to explain evolution and how over time we have lost species only to find others to replace them.
Long gone the Dinasour, Sabre Toothed Tiger and Woolly Mammoth, and in there place other creatures.

Animals as he explained have an inbuilt ability which we do still not fully understand that allows them to continue in conditions we consider to be impossible to do so.

Oddly, many do not accept warnings until the dangers are close to them.

When things are near your own back garden, it is worth thinking about
ensuring the future is safe for the generations that come after us.

Cardiff named one of world's most at risk cities from global warming

The Welsh capital is named alongside cities like Vietnam's Ho Chi Min City and low-lying Amsterdam

Of the 85 world cities looked at by this Nestpick funded research Cardiff was ranked 6th for most impacted by global warming.

It is one of only two European cities in the top 10 and much higher than the next UK city, London, which is ranked 22nd.

hI Keith , to raise sea levels around the world by One Metre you would need to have 360,000,000,000,000 cubic metres of sea water.

Where do you get that much water from, ? There is no more water on earth than there was 500, million years ago,
Under water Glaciers and ice bergs melting would not make any difference to sea levels.

Only difference would be from Land based Glaciers, Now Ice at the Arctic regions would not melt as you would still have Arctic winters of 24 hours of darkness where temperature would fall to Minus 70 plus degrees
So no need to panic.,
My measure of Tides in at the back of my home in Fleetwood on the Irish Sea has not altered one inch on the ride table measures

There is too much scaremongering by so called academics with an Ology, and no experience outside a classroom.

When I was in the Antarctic in 2009 a BAS Member told me there was no ice melt apart from some in summer with the 24 hours a day sunshine and then in winter it all freezes up again with the temperature falling below Minus 70 degrees with 24 hours of dark,.

So you will have no need to wear seaboots in Cardiff.

Some scientists here in Oz have written to the gov in an attempt to get them to do some thing about climate change.
But why our gov, we are on target to meet and even beat our Paris agreement target.
Our total emission are about 1.2% of the worlds total.
Better they write to China or India if they are serious.

Well, of course Chinas emissions are much higher than you have in Australia, could that be that they are burning vast amounts of Australian coal ?, just shows what a complicated system we have when we rely on individual emission figures, just saying John, certainly don't want an argument on things we cannot control, kt
