    Default Rotten society of today

Here in Oz we have two state TV stations and a number of commercial ones.

On most nights I will have a look in at one of the commercial ones at 1800 hours before turning to one of the state ones later.

Lat night was little different from many others when it came to the first few news items.

    1. A man banned from attending any footy matches ever again , a result of his attacking another supporter and leaving him in a very serious state.

    2. A truck driver chasing a car with two females along a stretch of road where major road works are going on. Restricted speed limit he rammed their car into the concrete barriers then got out an attacked them with a spanner before taking off in the truck.

    3. A grand mother found guilty of killing her grandson.

There were a few others in a similar manner.

Is this the way society is going now?

In our younger day I do not recall so many violent acts as we now hear of daily.
There was a code of conduct between gangs and the public were very rarely involved.
Yes murder did take place and some people were beaten up, but was it as bad as now or is it that the media enjoy reporting such.

Or is it the drug scene where so many now are in one way or another drug effected?

Is society going down a path of no return where such events will in a few years become the norm?

Is the lack of law and order because of weak governments who pander to the PC and left wing loonies just to get the votes?

I am not sure which it is, but I know if it continues society will soon be gone.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.

It's the same in the UK, knife stabbings every other day, and the Liberal Brigade blame everyone but themselves.
The way to stop it is by giving sharp sentences that reflect the crime, seven years for carrying a knife. Twenty years for stabbing someone.
    That will cut the crime.

    ere is no deterrent,

When we had Hanging the Murder rate was very low.
today Harry Pierrepoint and his assistant would be working overtime seven days a week.
other crime we had Hard Labour for Ten Years,
today they have the keys for their own cells, TVs, no work, play pool , work out in a Gym, like a hotel.

    Sentences today are ..........
If he pleads Guilty and says Sorry, he gets One Third off the sentence, if he has good Behaviour he gets another 50% off the sentence,
A local murder where they killed FOUR very little children by burning them to death, the sentence was last week, 39 Years,
they said Sorry in Court, so 13 years will be off the sentence, then good behaviour,
[ not burning more children while locked up]
will get them anther 13 years off., so these 20 year old killers will be back on the street when they are only 33 years old,
they will be unemployable, so they will be found Accommodation and then paid by the Tax Payer on Benefits for the rest of their lives while they plan other killings.
How Bleddy Stupid is that??? If Hanged, problem solved.
    Brian

    PS Vic,
a twenty years sentence will only be Seven years to serve.

our whole leagal system needs overhauling we cant deport criminals from other countries after sentence because of their human rights civil liberties in todays investigations DNA etc lawyers present at interigation its likely that you are guilty so why not bring back the death penalty the victims seem to have no rights at all? if a member of you family is murdered knowing the killer would be out in a few years some times to do it again that is not a working justice system the rope is the ultimate deterrent we have young kids walking around with knives /guns if carrying these weapons they should have no trial taken right to the prison gates and 10 years later you can come out? this would only have to be done one time and the murder rate would plummet ? jp

This is the problem when you involve politics into the prison system I would personally take firstly the NHS away from politics and let it be run as an autonomous body just getting the money from the government and being controlled by its own internal governance and secondly I would take the justice system and separate that from government to so when you went to jail you had no influence over the government at all no vote no access two anything in the system and no human rights . I see one of the problems being that small pressure groups can make an awful lot of political influence and that will affect political decisions . I have been listening over the weekend to the political football of rights to abortion and the fact that the Irish Republic and some politicians here want the United Kingdom government to impose a standard on Northern Ireland now I've got my own feelings on it but my overall feeling is it's Northern Ireland's decision let Northern Ireland decide but the problem with politics is everybody wants to Delve and have a little bit of everybody else's problems so they can make a really good name for themselves so I would say take politics out of the justice system

There was a Politician,. MP the other day saying women should NOT be in Prison.
Which just proves the intelligence of a Politician MP.

Can you imagine another Myra Hindley in Court and the Judge says, "You are a very Naughty girl for killing all those kids, Now go home and behave yourself in future."

    I despair.
