Welcome
There’s one thing Davey, I believe James Bond started his career as a Lieutenant Commander. Don’t think Ian Fleming was up in his naval etiquette, but noticed in later stories made for the screen he suddenly appears to be a full Commander, that’s when they get the brass hat, and according to the naval circle personnel I mixed with apart from the lifebuoy circle, that’s when they were getting groomed for bigger things including rises in pensions etc. etc. so that would have kept Miss Moneypenny happy at least. The big waiting lists here are for eye operations my wife has been waiting a year for her second one, and still going around one lens in her spectacles. I need two done also and will be at least a year and that’s looking on the bright side which I have difficulty seeing in any case. Enough to drive one to drink, which I intend doing very shortly. cheers ps the sun is well over the yard arm here in fact will soon be nautical twilight. Never seen the green flash for sometime, maybe the Indian Ocean has ran out of them JS

##strange keith but i saw the same in the company i worked in before i stated in my own business ...example with the old employer i sold a 100 mters of cloth....i put the order into the sales office it was then typed out ...sent to the sales manager to sign and initial a copy to the sales director to sign and initial and then was sent to stores to see if it was in stock to sign and initial ..it was held there then returned to the warehouse to check if it could be dispatched .......when i started my own company the salesman brought the order in i checked it was in stock it was then processed...suppose it put people out of work ...but the company i had worked for went out of busines for mega bucks.......and we were even doing work for the french german and other countries .....on visiting these people i found the same thing ....admin out sizing the bloody workers a true tale of tails wagging dogs the whole of british industry was once in that state ....cant comment now as i have been retired 18 years.....cappy

Hi John S. You want to emigrate to NSW. I got a nasty letter from the optometrist who had operated on my left eye, to say I had missed my appointment for a check on my other one, {I knew she would say i needed an op on it] including myself she did 7 people in about six hours , all on Medicare, each one cost the Govt around $3,000. Talking to a lady yesterday who had gone to see her privately, [she could have got it done on Medicare for nought ] cost her $9,000. only a short waiting list for it to be done on Medicare. \Cheers Des
des barbs op would have cost £12.700 for a two day stay that bill went to the NHS..jp
I recently had an eye test which i have twice a year, Diabetes type two. The young optician who works for the N.H.S. I got chatting to after having to wait for the drops of liquid they drop into the eye, The conversation drifted to the N.H.S. in general. She was telling me that what she was about to perform her boss wasn't qualified to do. Then what is her function as your boss ? If she couldn't spot a mistake. She never views the results of these photographs she wouldn't know what to look for anyway. Then in what capacity qualifies her as your boss. She is the admin clerk she sends out the appointments and returns them to the hospital for examination. She had a very wry look on her face to say the least. It just shows its not all about throwing more money at the N.H.S. Its crying out for an overhaul......... To many chiefs and not enough Indians comes to mind. Terry.

RLT they still have not come to terms with the old saying mate. If there are no idians then who needs chiefs.
That's the way the mop flops. My thanks to Brian for this site.

Cheers Des Des, my wife had two done, one private with a very good Medicare rebate. The second by the same doc done on Medicare but the anethatist charged $70.for any on over 70. When I asked my MP about this he asked the minister for health who said no such charge should be made. Got it back.
Happy daze John in Oz. Life is too short to blend in. John Strange R737787 World Traveller
