das boot
##one of the most interesting war films at see to me was the film das boot...the story of a uboat and its crew .....they i believe lost more than our total lost at sea in the MN ...... afollow on of that film is at the moment being made by german sky television ...at la rochelle were of course the sub pens which could not be touched regardless of bombing by the best bombs we had it is due to be shown in summer2018 ......if anything like the first one it will be really worth watching ....regards cappy

Re: das boot
Went inside the U boat pens at L, Orient, concrete walls are really thick.
A British blockbuster hit the roof and only bent it.
On British diesel subs not allowed to shower or take additional clothes.
When they get to their destination, all trooped up to the nearest shower and fresh clothes are waiting for them.

Vic

Re: das boot
Funny watched a movie last night or part of it about how the Americans captured the enigma machine( re writting history again) they did in small writting on the credits admit that it was the Brits that actually got there hands on the first one.

Re: das boot
When I was a Sea Cadet in 1949 I did a "Submarine course" at HMS Dolphin in Gosport,
I spent two weeks in submarines and all I did was scrub out all the compartments and polish brass through half a dozen submarines, we were used.
When I came home I told all my mates that I had been out in the Atlantic Diving a thousand feet under the sea. They were jealous.
