Plenty of recharging points in London and no doubt there would be more installed on all taxi rank vicinities at all major rail stations

Tesla has been brought to account by GM as to the cost of his cars. At assumed $50,000 GM sat it cannot be made for that price.
As to batteries, scientific tests have shown that to make and then dispose of a battery uses as much energy as a car would use in 5 years.
Some batteries when being replaced also have to have some of the wires replaced at considerable cost.
One guy here was quoted $9,000 for same on a car only 6 years old.

But something to consider.

If UK goes to less combustion engine and more electric where will the revenue come from.

Petrol in UK has I am informed some 57% of the bowser price as tax!

Here in Oz we have cars that run on LPG, many are converted to do so and for a while one of the manufactures built dedicated gas only cars. Burt now we no longer make them here it will only be converted ones.

ivan you hold up a taxi rank in Liverpool charging you car and the baseball bats would be out? I dropped barb off at the strand bootle all the taxis beeping one called me something he sh.t when the nail bar came out the boot petrol stations is best for charging? jp

I think one of the drawbacks in the UK for duel fuel cars Petrol/LPG was the lack of fuelling pumps at stations (LPG) nation wide they are few and far between.Also I think that initially there were restrictions as to taking your duel fuel car on cross channel ferries or the channel tunnel , could be wrong on that but something in the back of my mind.
I remember once two of us getting picked up at the airport in Perth by the ships agent. She opened the boot of the car and we could just about get the suitcases in. A 1/3rd of the boot space was taken up by the LPG tank.

Electric cars, pollution free, mmm.
There are I believe over 20m cars in the UK, if everyone one of these was replaced by electric cars, would it reduce the amount of CO2 produced,no it wouldn't. The CO2 would be produced by the power stations.
Batteries in electric cars are similar to those use in Mobile phones, they only have a finite number of times they can be charged before the require replacement.

There is an advert appears on my computer screen when I turn it on about batteries. I have clicked on it to see what it is about. Basically Bob from the good old USA is telling you how you will never need to buy a battery again. He goes on and on about with his simple technique you can recharge your old batteries to as good as new. He drolls on and on telling you that this is a technique that the US military use in the field. He also says that this is a secret that the battery manufacturers dread you getting to know about. He even goes onto say that one of the reasons battey companies really want you to recycle your used batteries , be they car batteries /motorcycle batteries even your AAA batteries is so they can get their hands on them and use this proven method for fully recharging them so they can sell them back as new. Obviously this saves them $billions of dollars a year.
So this is the secret I am willing to share with you, it is so simple you will kick yourself for not thinking of this fool proof method yourself.
So for a one time payment of $20.00. Anyone want the link ? I don't thinkI will part my $20.00 just yet.

There is so much drivel about going green and reducing CO2.
In the last Paris Memorandum on climate change it effectively bans the use of fossil fuels from about 2040.
So no gas to cook with, no gas for central heating boilers.
We are going clean electric.
Boilers will be replaced with ground source heat pumps, which for every 1kw input you get between 3 & 4kw output.
Everyone will have an electric cooker.
With the Advent of the electronic electric car and electric heat pumps how many power stations will we require.
The Leckie house hold bill be astronomical.

Just read my Share Holder Magazine from Exxon/Mobil.
one article says .................
60% Fewer emissions when Natural Gas is used to generate Electricity.
Americas greenhouse gas emissions are the lowest for over 20 years.
How is that Possible??
It is thanks to a large part to Utilities increasingly relying on Natural Gas to help meet Electricity demands.
Life takes energy, and no one produces more of America`s natural gas than EXXON/MOBIL.

America were late comers to LNG, while I was with BP the USA suddenley could not get enough of the stuff, they are building reception facilites even going into off shore storage instillations , LNG is about the cleanest of all fossle fuels.
