    Default Nostalgia.......................not what it was

Once again we stop the might roar of London traffic to bring you people who are
    "In town tonight'

    Educating Archie
    Life with the Lyons
    The Navy Lark
    Much Binding in the Marsh
    Steptoe and Son
    The goon Show
    Hancock's half Hour
    Dick Barton special Agent
    Mrs Dales Dairy
The Archers, an every day country of story folk
    Andy Pandy
Muffin the Mule, no longer an offence
    Billy Cottons Band show
    Family Favorites
    Housewife's Choice
    Five to Ten
    Workers Playtime

These were the shows we listened to and sometimes watched.

The radio was the medium we all knew and it allowed our imagination to build pictures in our mind.
We enjoyed such simple programs that made us laugh and enjoy life. in a time when live was a little simpler.

I often wonder what the younger generation of toady will recall when, and if, they reach our ages?

Dick Barton, Special Agent (with Snowy and Jock). Better than 007

Valentine Dial (sp.) The Man in Black. I still remember two of the weekly shows "The hand of Makarnim", about a Mummies hand that could climb up walls, open fanlight windows over the bedroom doors and strangle those sleeping. I had a bloody fanlight over my bedroom door and it took me hours to go to sleep for weeks after. The other was about vampires and after the broadcast, me, my sister and beloved Aunt Jean had to go out in the garden and bring in the laundry from the line. It was freezing, the sheets and towels never dried and were stiff as a board, it was pitch black in the garden and we couldn't fold the stuff up. It seemed like hours before we got back indoors to safety. We swore we could here batwings beating, They don't make movies that good today let alone radio shows. And those I heard more than seventy years ago.

Roger, the list goes on and so many memories go with them.
Now radio is just background noise with little content of interest.

    Hi John.
Now my favorite time is the afternoon, go through the posts on site, then settle back with the earphones on and listen to CDs of the Shadows, Welsh Choirs, Frank Sinatra, The great Tenors, bliss.
