    Jeeze Doc,

All these years I thought my great life was due to extraordinary good looks, natural talent, understanding nature, being able to suffer fools gladly, propitiatory, and an all round good egg, add its all do to the bloody number of letters in my name? Grrrrrr!

In the coastal trade we reckoned if you passed under a bridge and a train crossed over at the same time you would get the weekend in port lol.

#53... It was if you left after 1800 hrs Rob, didn't get a full Sunday at sea then. JWS
#54... definetley would Lewis if the bridge collapsed under the weight of the Train after you had passed inward.

    Hi Rod.
It would make your next skipper do a double take to see if they put the D R in the wrong place.

Des as a previous post. The owner had the the initials RD on a ship was on and a completely black funnel and wanted his own funnel marking. So put a white band round. And using the upright of the R and D as common to both put the R facing to the left and the D facing to the right both joined figures about 7 feet tall. He was over the moon with the result and so he should have been as measured out and did myself. I rather think that if you faced away from the funnel and looked at it through a mirror it would have read DR. I hope it did as we didn't part company at a later date the best of friends. Cheers JWS

If you ended up full as a boot and failed to turn to you got a logging.

    Hi Happy John.
Don't know about that, in Durban we not only got a logging we also got a flogging thanks to the South African Police, I think the one that hurt the most was the loss of the cash, that is what I think now not then.
    Cheers Des
