Marian I wear black bow ties quite a lot used to wear at least 3 times a week. Have about 4 bow ties but always losing and is always a hurry to get on. Have found the easy way to put on if not a self tying one is to cut the cloth strap off a replace with knicker elastic takes all of 2 seconds to put on. 3 dinner suits all of which have shrunk the same as about 3 ordinary suits which only wear if have to. What I really don't like wearing are socks as find almost impossible to put on and off myself. As for tying shoe laces forget it. Hate the winter out here when have to wear all these extras. JWS.

Cappys #7 always reminds me of a chief engineer ex RN I sailed with in an Indian company. When he went to London for his interview with the managers of the ship one of the questions they asked him was do you drink, his answer was yes please I"ll have a pink gin no ice. He didn't get the pink gin but he got the job and was a pleasure to sail with. The no ice was a fetish with him as in Malta a lot during the war he reckoned it was made from dirty water and nobody used because was much the cause of dystentry. JWS.
#13...you sound very fit Marian to be able to do such feats such as lift one leg up. As for myself it would depend on what time of day it was and how many drinks had had as would probably over balance. Will stick with the wife doing that chore gives her something to do, your hubby sounds like a man of my own leanings " your not going anywhere". I wouldn't have the nerve to say it as would get my socks stuffed down the neck and put on from the inside. Cheers JWS. Ps your advice for putting socks on appreciated, sounds like doing the hokey pokey of years ago, you put your right foot in and shake it all about. Cheers js

Can use walking stick instead of heel, then copy Michael Jackson ''moon walk'' saves lifting the leg.
