Re: George osborne
Ref Post#7. Looks like he will be an Everton player by tomorrow night Lewis. Lukaku has gone to Man U from Everton for a total of £90 million with the add ons. Rooney has been in discussion with the Everton chairman and it has been reported that he will join Everton taking a 50% pay cut from his Man U salary. Would I prefer Rom or Wayne. I would take Rooney any day. At times Lukaku was a lazy player and if things did not go his way then he just made up the team. Great goalscorer but nt in the same class as Gary Lineker. In all fairness good luck to the lad and I hope does well with his new employers.

Re: George osborne
Whatever or whoever you support there can be no justification in paying footballers these types of salaries. Think about it in this context. How much does a consultant/cardiac surgeon earn per annum in Broadgreen? I use this comparison as we are mostly all getting to the age or past it when you need these men. Footballers you will never need.

If you were Wayne Rooney of course you would refuse to accept the wages on offer,no.no you would say just pay me £350.per week.Wayne and Coleen are just having a new mansion built on the Wirral to the tune of £10.million,not bad for a lad who cant' spell his own name right three times on the trot or a girl who should be working behind the counter in Woolworths.

I understand where you are coming from and agree the money these premier league players get is obscene but then again the clubs are awash with television money. That along with gate receipts makes it possible for them to pay this sort of money. And if you are in Europe the sky is the limit (no pun intended sic "sky"). Not to mention those clubs who are listed on the Stock Exchange. Football is mega business not just in the UK but Globally.

A better response would be,you are comparing apples with oranges the occupations of Rooney and a top surgeon are miles apart. If you were saying a GP is on the same salary as a top surgeon then I could understand what you are saying.Imagine all the money that pop stars have earned,The Beatles etc, take Cilla Black brought up on Scotland Road above a barbers shop in not the best of accommodation, touched lucky ended up wanting for nothing did Cilla the daughter of a Liverpool docker not desrve that.???

Very difficult to take any of your arguments seriously when your original response is so offensive telling me that a brainless footballer has achieved more in a minute than I (who you have never met) have achieved in 47 years at sea. Eight as C/Off and 23 years as Master. And this morning you try to tell the membership he is buying a GBP10mill mansion on the Wirral. Thankfully, that is not true as Knutsford is not the Wirral. He would cause some amusement around West Kirby and never be accepted.

Yes the wages are obseen that a pro footballer gets paid to day as it is for many top sports men/women. Now let's see, if I had my life over again what would I do. Would I still go away to sea or if I could have been top Pro footballer/golfer what would I choose, sorry lads but I feel like a rat deserting a sinking ship here , think I would opt for the sport route any day.

What's up Jim could your masters salary not stretch to a house in Caldy? West Kirby is a nice place I will give you that , most of the football players I know used to live in Caldy. Paul Inch used to run the local five aside leagues at the West Kirby concourse and pay for the use of the hall and buy all the kit the kids needed. My lad was one of the benficiaries of his generosity.
