Re: council leaders pay
Hi Cappy .
It's the same out here our head of the post office was on $6 million yes $6 million a year plus bonuses his mates in the board were on around $1.5 million, thankfully the rumpus has made him resign.
Our State Govt without asking anyone started to merge councils, there was such a scream the council's took it to court as unconstitutional and some of them won so they have reversed it, but the country ones are still merged with the mayors getting a huge increase.
Cheers Des

Re: council leaders pay
Here in Victoria we at one time had 178 local councils for a population of 4.5 mil. One premier reduced thta by mergers to 68 and there are plans to reduce it further to 50 in total.
Councilors are now paid, quite a good sum, where as at one time they only got expenses. The CEO of our council with car, meal allowances, late hour allowances is costing the rate payers some $750,000 per year.
Then there is the mayor and 9 councilors all on a bloody good screw, somewhere we are informed of about $70,000 per year.

Happy daze John in Oz.
