Re: When is a job not a job ?
No more tax allowance on your mortgage John, I think that stopped some years ago. I think with social housing whe n they sold off to the occupants was very noble, but they did not build more. I think buying your own house means you have to give up a lot for years, things like holidays, cars etc, but people think you can do all that without a struggle, and still have it all, cannot be done.kt

Re: When is a job not a job ?
#30 #31 Something else I didn't know. Aint life wonderful. Will have to be quite as don't realize what goes on in UK now. By all the doom and gloom am probably sitting in the best place. Was talking on the phone to my brother the other day, he is paid peanuts and doesn't say much about anything, is 64 now and says he will never retire. Says he cant put us up now if go to UK as has sold all the beds apart from his own. Is this something to do with this bed tax or whatever it is called. He wouldn't moan about it to me. But since my mother died he has lost all the concessions she had re the house. They and myself moved into it in 1948 and was astonished at the amount of rent he had to pay now compared to his earnings. He was born in 1953 and has lived there all his life. JS

Re: When is a job not a job ?
The bedroom tax wont affect your brother John,he is employed and not on benefits.Bedroom tax affects people having their full rent paid, they have their benefit cut by so much per room.A single person in a two bedroom house would lose something like £14.00 per week.

Re: When is a job not a job ?
The option is if you are living alone in a 2 or 3 bedroom house get a one bedroom flat, the problem is try and find one.

The doom mongers referred to are people such doctors , health care providers , social workers , child care experts , school teachers , housing officials , charities such as Help the Aged plus many more who are on the front line. But of course they do not know what they are talking about and are all wrong.
