That's why I say let it rest, it will just go round in circles, no one will win except lawyers who will become richer, it happened a long time ago and cannot be undone, it will become a point scoring exercise, there will be no moral victory for any side

Say that to the people and families who were involved when these violent clashes took place. They want to know the truth. Lets face it, if we can't trust our own police force to carry out their duties in a civilised manner, then who on earth can we trust?.
I gather the government is going to make a decision in late October regarding Orgreave and it looks very likely that the police and authorities are going to come off second best.

People as long as they are alive will remember. We remember on here. And are ever hopeful will learn by mistakes. I doubt whether the USA has forgotten 1928 and the uprising in Russia and have and will always see them as a threat to their monetary way of life. Hence their continued animosity towards them. Let, as always say different Nations continue on their own without outside intervention. We will remember means just that. People don't just die and you forget them, during all the wars of the past, today, and in the future, people fight for what they believe in. half the rabble in the Middle East however are mercenarys fighting for both monetary and power gain. If they want to kill themselves off it is their choice but keep it in their own backyard and don't cry for help when one side starts to lose.

What about the Welsh taxi driver David Wilkie who was killed
when two striking miners threw a brick off a motorway bridge.

The only winners from all of this if there is tyo be an inquiry will be the lawyers. They will stand by those who claim to have been victims promising that there will b e no fee. No fee only applies when they know they are onto a winner, if a doubtful outcome will often decline to offer services.

    Hi All.
I think that Keith's post about the 50th anniversary of the Aberfan disaster opened my eyes a bit, Harold Wilson Labour PM was secretly trying to close the mines down even then, WHY?

Des, I think you will find that even then some of the mines were no longer viable concerns. There was also at that time the opportunity of cheaper coal from Poland.

But as to the present situation, it was so long ago I doubt the authorities will bother too much about it. Hard for the families looking for closure.
