Re: Zut Alors ! We Love You Too.
Interesting program on BBC2 last night on how Cameron lost the EU referendum vote.
Immigration was the turning point for many but Cameron kept banging on about the economic virtues which most people living north of Watford gap have yet to see, only saw the massive amounts of dosh going from our exchequer to support Europe.
Then Corbyn's labour lack lustre campaign to remain in fell to excite voters to vote remain when he ony gave 7-7.5 out of 10 for remaining in Europe when he was asked what his views on Europe were on a scale of 1-10.
With most of England and Wales North of Watford Gap voting out it was a huge kick in the teeth for all those Westminster johnnies sitting on the fat behinds in Parliament and thinking and saying they knew what was best for Britain as the supped their subsidised booze an food in Westminster and had their mortgages paid for them by the rest of the population, whilst the common man has to put up with cuts in spending.
Apart from Scotland where the majority of voters seem to be following Sturgeon blindly down the path of self destruction, the leave voters eventually got their day in court and managed to get a sea change in Westminster politics where the views of the nation are taken into account rather than the views of the so called politicians who have always talked down to us from their Islington enclaves.

Re: Zut Alors ! We Love You Too.
I voted probably 40 years ago to sign up to what was then the EEC the European Economic community which would a trading agreement between I think seven nations . We then started to get a few treaties here and there and an ever growing bureaucracy in Brussels I actually voted to stay in because I believed that Cameron could have made some changes to that bureaucracy whether he would have been able to or not it will never ever find out now . But if you drive around Europe you find tunnels to Nowhere and bridges over nothing all paid for word European money . Now I am a definite grecophile and I look at how the Greeks regard money when I spoke to a friend of mine a small businessman about the fact that he never paid taxes and his workers never paid taxes either he said why the government has its own money he couldn't associate the fact that the government's money came from his taxes they have their own money and unfortunately I think a lot of the European Nations believe that Europe has its own money and they forget we contribute to it I think on reflection leaving it is probably the best thing we could have done but I anticipate the we're going to have a few hard years because of it

Re: Zut Alors ! We Love You Too.
Gulliver Mia Culpa when it comes to not being fully aware of the situation in UK, returning in 2013 after an 18 year absence sine my previous trip I was quite astounded at how the country had changed and was not impressed with what I saw.
But small business id often the power house on many economies employing many workers. The big boys will look for what is best for the share holder and are always looking for ways to cut costs, and sadly with some corners as well.
Gulliver I can only sit on the fence as I am not in a position, unlike those in UK, to pass judgement on what is occurring. I have to rely on news from friends and family for that. I do look at the media but have to take much of what they say with a grain of salt, they only tell what will sell copy.
As an ex pat I still want what is best for UK, and if that is a full Britex then so be it.
But one issue on which I do agree with you and many others is the problem with no border control,t hat is inexcuseable for any gov to allow such a situation to eventuate. It is the basic duty of any gov to secure borders and keep the people safe.
Britain will survive this and come out the other end, wiser one would hope, with the intention of going ahead as a global major economy and political entity.
