Re: Hooray,Maggie Lives Again !
I actually believed in Margaret Thatcher the coal fields in Derbyshire South Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire we're finished there was a lot of coal there and a lot of it very difficult to extract and very expensive to extract and it stays there today the Miners were poorly represented by the National Union of mineworkers who was set on a display of power they took on Sasha and lost . Now I have been a trade Unionist all my life and still am in retirement so that is 50 years of believing in and supporting the trade union movement . Where I have seen the self destruction of that movement is when the so-called elected the president suddenly think they are a powerful on their own and forget they are representing their members which is what Scargill did . Admittedly she did make some mistakes the council tax being the biggest one , school milk I think was a lesser mistake because when I was at school it was always lukewarm and in summer was already going off by the morning break having languished in the sunshine . What I admire was I think she was probably the only other prime minister of the last century that would have had the guts to take on Argentina and evict them from our territory against opposition half of the world against as at the time when you consider Blair Brown and the other gutless leaders we would now we talking about the malvinas . I personally think Theresa May is on the same mould and that is how we will see this country become rebuilt as an independent sovereign state

Re: Hooray,Maggie Lives Again !
Welcome back Rob, you seemed to have absent for some time, hope all is okay, whoops just noted you are back in full swing on other posts and your answer on Jim's post. My son in law is fighting the NHS also, lived all his life (66 years) in the UK, spent two years in France on doctor's advice, continued with his stamps and has been told because of his absence and buying a property abroad (which he never has) that he is not entitled to treatment because he sold his property in Northallerton (which he never did) he had excluded himself from certain benefits. Has a stack of correspondence about 12" high.
Incidentally his name is also Rob, wonder if a Rob has been taking advantage of some NHS employee and they are now targeting all Robs '

Re: Hooray,Maggie Lives Again !
Welcome back Rob, hope your health is now better.
.
I liked the Poll Tax, I thought it was fair.,
I lived on my own and next door five people all working, I had to pay the same Council tax as them,
So it was like going into a Restaurant and ordering a meal and getting the same Bill as the next table of Five people.
My poll tax was very small so I was better off. After all we all use the same Services of the town.
Then all the whingers complained and it went back to Council Tax so now I pay £1,600 a year, the same as next door who have Four workers with wages.
Come back Maggie.
Brian.

Re: Hooray,Maggie Lives Again !
I liked the theory of the poll tax and I didn't see why in this country you can't be issued b national insurance number from birth and then carry that number for driving licence passport and taxation as well as everything else including health service numbers etc . So I agree with the principle but I knew one household where four grown up children seem to disappear to Somewhere called no fixed abode so I felt that the management and control of it was almost impossible to enforce but in principle adult pay per capita is a good one .
In that vein I watch the program on Channel 4 that was explaining the hard life that he live by people on the dole and I know a lot of people on the dollar struggling and I do know that the media are not exactly fair when it comes to portraying the real world this site is full of people with wider knowledge the night have can somebody explain why everyone that is on these programs can afford to smoke and all have a dog because I can't afford either

Hi Rob.
On TV here a few months ago they were questioning people about their smoking habits, they asked this bloke as he was on the dole should he be smoking, he said, "It's my money." That says it all.
Cheers Des

Re: Hooray,Maggie Lives Again !
#38 Rob pleased you observed the political correctness and called your would be dog a dog, and not a mongrel, as apparently this today is incorrect according to the PC people. To crown it all the dogs themselves have not been asked for their advice on the subject. When I used to smoke I used to call them tabs, would probably have been fined a few times by now for not shown proper respect to the tobacco harvesters. OK to call a scruffy drover a mongrel basket, where would probably just get a punch in the eye, but no official reprimands. Cheers JWS

An "evil witch" you say,and you probably never even met her.
Its obvious from your remark that you did not have the same
political point of view,I think your remarks are really out of order.
