I should have gone to Aintree on Thursday with my three grandkids, two of them came home with bulging pockets the third one didn't bother much I think he came home with what he went out with.Grandson backed first 3 winners and followed up with a couple more, granddaughter was in front so threw £10.00 e/w on the last winner went in 14/1 that gave her around about £200.00 just for that race.

It's no wonder I didn't hear my horse Holywell mentioned it fell at the 2nd fence.

    A good one that, 33/1.

I don't back horses any more. On July 14 1957 in Brisbane, a Saturday morning , we got paid out our three months shore pay,
Over £350, so at £35 a month wages for an AB in those days a good Ten Months Wages.
Some idiot suggested that we go to the races, The DOOMDEN 10,000 Guineas Races were on, Queensland`s biggest race, similar to the National.
We were loaded so we hired limos that took us up there way out of town,
We came back on a tram BROKE. Just had a fiver left. We were supposed to skin out and get up to Winton in Northern Queensland to be Cowboys,
I stayed behind and loaned the fiver to the other two lads who went. One is still there and the other is now in Thailand.
So I have never touched a horse since. I still have the Program.

The trainer of the Grand national at aintree on Saturday also trained the winner of the Irish Grand national two weeks ago. First trainer to win both. He is stationed in Fethard Co. Tipperary, goes by the name of 'Mouse' and is a very god friend of wifes cousin there. But tye never gave me a tip about it, bludgers.
