Re: And "You'll be Sorry!"
The people who demand so vehemently for a Republic and their own sense of self so called government I just fail to see their reasoning, although I must say I have never bothered going into it too far. To me for a country to have a continuous non political head of state has a certain stability about it that other countries fail to achieve. Who wants the Local dipstick changed every 3 years or so and called head of state. No one will recognize anyway and will probably have to walk around with a sign around his neck with name and the word President. There is no one I could say off the top of my head in Australia who has the aura or brains to carry out, only more scheming politicians as to want as their crowning glory in life. Just look at them as they do nowadays in the UK it is to finish up with Honours which they apply for themselves, and receive from the Monarch. Maybe Tony Abbot was right when he wanted such systems brought back into line in Australia, this may have appealed to the vanity of many. When people read the honours about this time of the year, it is honours giving out by the politics of the country, the Queen is only the dressing on the cake. Apart from her own private Orders she has more than likely no say in the matter. The present Monarchy has seen out X number of governments, maybe this is the reason why certain politicians don't like as they see the Monarchy as continuous whilst themselves are only a flash in the pan and disposable. Envy and jealousy abounds in our Democratic society, its how big business makes its money. If Cappy still had his business and could get the contract for the change of uniforms and regalia for the armed forces alone, he would be a billionaire overnight and would have to subcontract most of the work out, if such happens in Australia I would suggest every one having a hand in the change should open his books as to see how much money was involved. Re: And "You'll be Sorry!"
Of course what these whackos do not realise is that thye could end up with an Idi Armin or similar. Any one could play dumb to get into power and once there create havoc leaving the country in a terrible state. Something about better the devil you know comes to mind.
