Re: Democracy
A moo, slim, migrant from Prescott Road in Liverpool has just got Eight Years for trying to buy Ricin, enough to kill 1400 people, he will come out of gaol more radicalised than he was when he went in.
That is the thanks for giving him a chance to live in a civilised country.
Security has said up to 3,000 terrorists are now in Britain, so why are we importing more?
Brian.

Re: Democracy
I have been writing to Ed Miliband for months without any reply regarding the Confiscation by The Labour Party of the money for Compensation paid to the Labour Government for the Widows, Families and Survivors of the French Death Camps in West Africa.
He refused to reply.
So today I have sent another mail to Jeremy Corbyn to see if he will answer the question, What did the Labour Party do with the Compensation it Confiscated.
.
Hi Jeremy,
I have a question please for you.
I have been campaigning for justice for British Merchant Seamen, all Civilians in WW2 who had their cargo ships sunk by the Vichy French off West Africa,
The French prison Camps were far worse than the German ones and many British Seamen died in those Camps, some were even marched through the Jungles and across the desert to Timbuktu in Chad. Their graves are still there, The treatment they got was terrible, Red Cross Medication and Food parcels were left Rotting in the sun.
After the War ended, France paid to the Labour Government a very large sum of money to be given to the Widows and families and the Survivors
of their Death Camps.
When those ships were sunk, the men's wages were stopped so their families had no wages during the time they were incarcerated. A lot of Hardship, No Benefits in those days.
Now, the Labour Government CONFISCATED all their money and no one got any thing.
We are trying to find out where the money went and did it go into someone's pocket.
As a Good Labour man I would hope you could get to the bottom of this mystery. I have written Many Many time to Ed Miliband and was totally Ignored.
Thank you for your assistance.
Sincerely,
Brian Aspinall. MN retd.

#156, 'I am trying to be fair and open minded but cannot think of one single policy the Tories have introduced that has improved the lives of the common man or woman.
Please enlighten me.'
Two which I approved of but not necessarily your good self Louis are "The Right to Buy" your council home and legislation to abolish "Secondary Picketing"

Re: Democracy
when you think about it Mrs thatchers brainwave of the right to buy was the jewel in the demise of the unions? anyone renting the corporation owned the house buying your house the bank owns it and they would sell it from under you in a heartbeat so going on strike for a few weeks would badly effect were you live or not live? nice one mrs t. jp

Louis, re. #156
re. your paragraph #1. I do not know enough about U.K. politics and political facts to comment or give a Thanks or a Like, however, I agree with paragraphs #2 and #3 so accept a Thanks and a Like for them.
I personally think Richard Cheney was the evilest man in the Western World: so far in the twenty first century that is. As for President Bush you give him too much credit giving him top billing. As far as I am concerned He (Pres. Bush) was the ventriloquist's (R. Cheney's) dummy. Sadly people to this day and into the foreseeable future continue to loose their lives and homes and many their way of life.

Re: Democracy
#165, All I'll say John to your response, is that in my circle of labour friends and family only one never bought his council house because of his labour principles.....
I stand my ground and state a mortgage company would allow more leeway regarding arrears as there would be collateral on a property due to the 70% discount granted to long term tennant's. Whereas the local council were under no obligation!
Oh and John, unions in my opinion brought about there own demise with their thuggery that's what people feared not Margaret
Thatcher

Re: Democracy
. My mum and dad bought their house for just 7,000GBP as sitting tenants.
Most conservative govs do tend to favour big business I must admit, but without them there would be very little employment, they tend to look at a lower tax level where possible tending to be far more fiscally responsible than any Labor one. Not sure about UK but here in Oz since federation in 1901 there has only been one year, 1986, when a Labor gov has produced a balanced federal budget or had a surplus. The last Labor one turned a $22 billion surplus into a $149 billion deficit in 6 years.

Re: Democracy
Marian as you would expect I completely disagree with you. The Iron Witch's policy on right to buy has led to the housing crisis we have today. When councils sold their properties they were not allowed to use the money to build and replace their stock. The people who gained from this were buy to let and private landlords who charge sky high rents, many becoming millionaires overnight. The took full advantage of the system and of course were and are Tories.
On " union thuggery " I wish you had witnessed the thuggery of Maggie's private army of police during the miners strike.
