Re: Democracy
Hi Jim,
No he was the younger brother who owned the Brewery in Knowlsley. So far he is OK, It is the elder brother he is 85 last week and his wife stuck him in a home in Blackpool two and a half years ago. It is an awful place, locked in a small room with eight other patients all day just staring at a wall, no fresh air, no sunlight and No mental or physical stimulation at all and sat in wet trousers, . His wife had all his four sons, his two brothers and two sisters Banned from seeing him. We have had meetings with Social Services and had the CQC down but nothing can be done. The wife has all the rights to stop anyone.
So he gets no visitors. Anne and I managed to get in last Sunday morning as we know that there is a Polish girl on reception on Sunday mornings, and because I got talking to her about having been to Poland on my ships she let us in. I don't think he has long to go due to the lack of care in a care home. What a bleeding place to end up in. after a life at sea and then later in the Mines. and his evil bitch of a "wife" gets away with it.
Cheers
Brian

Re: Democracy
Hi All.
It didn't take the new British Labour leader long to launch his foreign policy. Australia he said is big enough to take thousands of refugees, I have been out there he said the country is huge. For his information we have 800,000 unemployed, around 150,000 sleeping rough. We only have around 25 million people half of whom are children. Over two thirds of Australia is uninhabitable people mainly live in the cities, which are rapidly becoming overcrowded, and most of all we are a christian country and don't want M$%#s.
Cheers Des

Re: Democracy
So now the UK, and possibly parts of the Commonwealth, are being got at from two sides. On one the EU and the other your 'new' Labor leader. Had he been around in the tie of Dickens he may have been the right person, but this is now the 21st century ad the last thing the UK needs is a fifth column. His concept of re-antionalising is amusing if he was not serious. I think there are much easier ways to bankrupt the nation without going to that extreme. Reminds me of Kinock.

Re: Democracy
I see in the INDEPENDENT a lot of major Donors to the Labour party are going to stop donating because of Corbyn. and there could be a Lib/Lab kind of split and that would be bad for Labour.
One who donates One Million Pounds said "I never back horses that lose."
So he really could be a bad deal for Labour, They called him `Economically Illiterate`
So please do not shout at me, it was reported and not my opinion.
Brian.

Re: Democracy
Reminds me of Michael Foot, a professional politician who never got anywhere, thought he'd make his point by being scruffy all the time and even wearing a Donkey Jacket (I like Donkey Jackets) at the Cenotaph. Alas he could be dangerous when allied with the SNP on serious votes/matters pertaining to this country's security. The SNP since his election have made their intention known about having another referendum for independence and they can be assured of Corbyn's support and canvassing as it will meet his ends of making us defenceless by getting rid of our nuclear submarines etc, as in his warped thinking that moo slim terrorists will leave us alone because we are no threat to them, alas they will not care whether we have arms or not, they will still want to reach their aims of world domination. Fools step in where angels fear to tread.

Re: Democracy
It is a very strange logic that people who call for peace and an end to nuclear weapons are labelled a threat to national security.
The threat comes from those who invade other countries in wars of choice, Bush, Blair and Cameron. They put are armed forces in the firing line, kill thousands of civilians and endanger all of our lives in attacks of retaliation. We will be living with the aftermath of their disastrous stupidity for generations to come.
