If there is a European Army, Navy and Air force, I hope we still keep our Army, RAF and Royal Navy totally separate. How can a British Service Man swear allegiance to a bunch of Frogs, Krauts and Ities. .
And the way we have treated our own family of Commonwealth Nations we could not expect them to come to our aid for a Third time.
Not one of our Politicians lived during the Second World War, or experienced the Blitz by the Krauts or the slimy Vichy French and Ities.
I have and so have many others so how can we Trust them.?
As I have said many times, use Europe as a nuclear testing ground, that should sort them out.
    Brian.

Yes Brian but do not the British armed forces swear allegiance to the Queen? Unfortunately she has no say in these matters, which makes it nothing more than "lip service" and abuse of the Monarch.

One thing I could never ever do Bob is swear allegiance to any politician.
It is Politicians who cause and start wars and then send some other Mothers son to fight them,
Maybe there should be a Battalion of Politicians who go into any battle first and show the way. That would be the only way to keep the peace.

The day that the UK hands over control of its. Armed forces to another party will be the day that the UK ceases to exist as a sovereign nation. People forget that in the Falklands conflict, two supposed allies, Belgium an France stabbed the UK in the back. France sold the Argies Exocept missiles sand Belgium refused to sell us ammo. The yanks gave us all the ammo we required.
Let the Froggies and the rest of Europe make a mess, keep UK free.

Those European berstereds forget who saved them from a Dictatorship, now they are the Dictators.
All our people, who died for them are now forgotten by them. WW2 has been airbrushed out of European history, it never happened.

What I totally fail to understand is why he keeps on putting off, putting it to the people. 2017 once again is being taken for a ride. Have the vote now and then everyone knows where they stand. He ran out of excuses long before the General Election. Turkey has just had a snap election, you don't hear them making excuses about the costing of such. He is proving once again he is just a sham. Frightened of his own shadow. Put someone in his place with a bit of backbone, just another poor excuse for a PM. This putting in younger people may be alright for the PR gurus, what is needed is people who have lived a part of History, these shams they put in don't even know how the normal person lives, never mind survives. He got away with Scotland by the skin of his teeth and he knows it, and is frightened of making waves, at the moment he is in the process of building up a Tsunami and the longer he puts off the higher is going to be the wave height. Have the election of stay in/out and then negotiate if it is worth doing so, if not then start the process of putting the Great back into Britain. JS

    HI All.
When the PM here starts pushing for something that is wrong; and he has done that since being elected, my wife always says; he is just one man in the party, where is the voice of all the others who represent the electorate that voted for them, seems to me that the silent majority will have to act in one voice, it's how we used to launch a lifeboat together.
    Cheers Des

‘55 per cent Britons want UK to stay in EU’

    Jun 04, 2015 |

    •Reuters

British support for staying in the European Union has risen to 55 per cent, up 9 percentage points from two years ago.

Prime Minister David Cameron, re-elected on May 7, has pledged to reshape Britain’s ties with the EU before holding an in-out referendum on membership by the end of 2017, but he could hold it earlier.

British support for staying inside the EU rose to 55 per cent from 50 per cent a year ago and 46 per cent in 2013, Pew said. The poll showed 36 per cent of Britons wanted to leave. In the 2013 survey, the British public was split equally with the 46 per cent wanting to stay in and 46 per cent wanting to leave.

Support for the EU in Britain was strongest among 18-29 year-olds: 69 per cent of them wanted to stay in while 25 per cent wanted to leave. British people over 50 years old were the most sceptical age group about membership. Meanwhile, German vice-chancellor Sigmar Gabriel hit out at British Prime Minister David Cameron’s plans for European Union reform on Wednesday, saying his vision of Europe was better suited to corporate interests than to people. The criticism, which Mr Gabriel made after talks with fellow centre-leftists in Paris, is a foretaste of the resistance the Conservat-ive Cameron can expect as he pushes for changes he says are needed to keep Britain inside the 28-nation bloc.

The risk of Britain leaving the EU has spooked some investors and Britain’s military allies.

LONDON British support for staying in the European Union has risen to 55 percent, up 9 percentage points from two years ago, according to a Pew Research Center survey.

Prime Minister David Cameron, re-elected on May 7, has pledged to reshape Britain's ties with the EU before holding an in-out referendum on membership by the end of 2017, but he could hold it earlier.

British support for staying inside the EU rose to 55 percent from 50 percent a year ago and 46 percent in 2013, Pew said. The poll showed 36 percent of Britons wanted to leave.

In the 2013 survey, the British public was split equally with the 46 percent wanting to stay in and 46 percent wanting to leave.

Support for the EU in Britain was strongest among 18-29 year-olds: 69 percent of them wanted to stay in while 25 percent wanted to leave. British people over 50 years old were the most sceptical age group about membership.

The risk of Britain leaving the EU has spooked some investors, company bosses and Britain's military allies. Cameron is due to set out his reform proposals in more detail at a meeting with EU leaders on June 25-26.

Despite the rise in support for membership, British people are more sceptical about the bloc than five other major EU members surveyed - Poland, Italy, Spain, Germany and France.

The poll showed 51 percent of Britons viewed the EU favourably, compared to 55 percent of French people and 58 percent of Germans. The Polish were most fond of the bloc, with 72 percent viewing it favourably.

Pew said the poll of people in Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Spain was conducted between April 7-May 13.

Southern Europeans have warmed to the EU as the economy improves, a survey has found, while German attitudes have cooled.

After polling in the six biggest states, home to 70 percent of the 28-nation bloc's population, the Pew Research Center said 64 percent of Italians and 63 percent of Spaniards held a very or somewhat favourable opinion of the EU, compared to 46 and 50 percent respectively a year ago.

Attitudes in France, Britain and Poland were broadly stable at 55, 51 and 72 percent but in Germany, the biggest economy, favourable opinions dipped to 58 percent from 66 percent.

The results produced a median outcome of 61 percent of people survey holding favourable views of the European Union compared to 53 percent last year and 52 percent in 2013.

"In the wake of the euro currency crisis, public support for the EU and the belief that European economic integration was good for one's country had declined precipitously across Europe,

reaching a low point in 2013," Pew said on Wednesday.

"But in 2015, favourable views of the EU and faith in the efficacy of creating a single market are generally rebounding in major EU member states."

In the four of the big six using the euro, support for retaining the common currency rose in France, Spain and, especially, Italy, and it was stable in Germany at 72 percent.

Italians last year were divided into equal camps on whether to restore the lira as the country struggled with austerity policies aimed at holding down its debts. They now favour the euro by 56 percent to 37 percent, the survey concluded.

In Britain, which is to hold a referendum by 2017 on whether to stay in the EU, Pew found a five-point swing to the Yes camp from the No [ID:nL5N0YP0PV]; 55 percent said they would now vote for EU membership and 36 percent would vote against it. In 2013, Pew found Britons evenly split, with 46 percent in either camp.

Very interesting threads written on this subject. There is sadly one very big fly in the ointment, it's called the Media. They will brainwash the people to stay in the EU. Look at that despicable rogue, Rupert Murdoch, urged Scotland to vote SNP, and England Tory. His empire is to big and powerful, he will come out in favor of the EU and that is what the the majority will vote for. Like them or hate them, but step back and look how the media took every opportunity to castigate and belittle UKIP and there leader Nigel Farrage during the election.
And that is what the media will do to the leave EU campaign, and even stronger. And the closer it gets to the vote the more the media buyest will spill it's bile and gradually brainwash the the majority into voting for the EU. I will be very very surprised if Britain votes to leave the EU. I will live to see Europe do by stealth what none of there armies could ever do by force, since the Roman conquest. Thanks to our Politicians and there media barons
