    Default Re: EU

The thing that puzzles me the most, being in my early 20's, is that the majority of people of my age just don't seem to see a problem with Europe.

Granted, I am into my politics (initially fired up because of Europe), but I just cannot fathom how most people I know don't seem to look further than what they know? Is this just a problem of my generation, or has it always been like this? To accept what you know and not to question it? Or, is it simply a case of "ignorance is bliss" in youth?

To me, what is happening in Europe is blatently obvious. Most people don't even realise that the European Union has its own anthem (but we've all accepted the flag), and that in many cases today (especially when referring to the Global Economy), you will see "Europe" being in the list...not the individual nations within it. For instance, I often hear how "Europe" has the biggest economy in the world. How can this be so, if we are all deemed to be independent...?

I cannot tell you how much I want to bang my head at the people who seem to be completely oblivious to all of this and actually, go as far as to laugh at me when trying to explain this! At times it makes me wonder whether I want to spend my future in the UK or not...
    Kind Regards,
    Jack.

#31 Jack we have all been in our early 20"s and probably had the same thoughts as you have. However with time comes age and with same comes knowledge of past mistakes and errors made in other peoples names and foisted on to those who don't agree with any so called good of the country. I am not a political person the same as millions of others, but do expect the right decisions to be made in our name. The Common Market was just that when opened a Free Trade Agreement in Europe which seemed to sit ok with the British public. However through stealth lies and deceit we now have a European Parliament which ultimately means the loss of all sovereignity, make no mistake on that. You were brought up with all these things in place and steadily progressing towards that end, the people who want to rule Europe are relying on your lack of knowledge and people in your age groups to put this across that there is nothing wrong with the EU and hence leave things as they are. Yours will be the decision and the final outcome at the polls. I trust you will have the maturity to know what you are letting any future children and grandchildren you may have on their future as well. This final and it will be final vote the future of the UK and its past depends. One could write pages for and against as many do in the world of journalism depending on their politics and self advantage. It is up to you and your generation to decide whether you want to ultimately live under a dictatorship hidden as a democracy from Brussels, or get the hell out of a bent idea, and return to one of the leading democracies the world used to have. This is none of your making as was started well before you were born, unfortuanetly you and your generation are going to have to sort the mess out which was started by self seeking and ignorant politicians masquerading as learned people. Cheers JS

The thing that concerns me is that I think I'm very much a lone voice amongst younger people today. Most people my age either aren't interested in what they view as politics (rather than the very fabric of our nation and its future), or simply don't understand what is happening. Even worse, they see you as being backward for questioning Europe, whilst preaching "democracy" themselves.

I genuinely find the future concerning, with the way things are going.
    Kind Regards,
    Jack.

If you feel you have been put in a corner and see no way out, then leave them to it and get out. The UK and most of Europe will start as it already has with pockets of Sharia Law due to laws that have been made over peoples heads without their compliance. Most of Europe is already brainwashed and will finish up without that problem as all thoughts and actions will be taken by a higher Hierarchy, which will not be British. When a country drops its border control it also ceases to be an individual country and any stray animal can wander in ad lib. The UK used to be one of the few countries in the world which was Rabies free, as soon as the Channel Tunnel was opened it ceased to be immune. Those of my age will not live to see the final degradation of the UK and all it stood for at one time, you and people of your age group will, but in all probability will not know any better. All I can say is the best of British, a word which you will not be allowed to use in 50 years or so. JS

    Hi Jack,
[ sounds like a plane movie,]
    Hi Jack
our Generation remember the treachery of france, germany, italy, in WW2, we remember the Blitz, our homes being bombed, digging out mother from under the rubble of a smoking ruin, praying that she will live. nowhere to live, no possessions left, families split up to live with relatives and friends. I didn't live with mother for three years. Living in fear waiting for the Next Air Raid. just like some towns in the middle east today. I never went to school, that was also bombed. At the age of 11, I could not read or write.
A million British have been killed fighting the Europeans, freeing them from a Dictatorship, Now they are the Dictators again,
And Politicians and the mindless people want us to be one with these evil people. To be Ruled by germany, and france and Merkel and Hollande. who have just signed, two weeks ago, a co-operation Pact as they did in 1939,
Did all those Service men and women , all those Seafarers and all those civilians all Die for Nothing?????
Now you wonder why I hate and detest Europe. I have never been to Europe for more than 20 years, and that was because my ship took me there. if I won a free holiday there I would not take it.

As I have said many times, use Europe as a nuclear testing ground..
And before anyone says that statement is wrong, why did they not complain when france used Tahiti as a Nuclear testing ground.
Innocent Tahitians were suffering from Radiation sickness, developing all kinds of horrible Cancers, Children being born with Horrible Deformities.
When the Tahitians complained, the French sent in the Foreign Legion to batter them, cracking skulls. That kind of News is supressed over here.
So let the French have a taste of what it is like.
I get angry when ever Europe is mentioned.
Tell all your misguided friends what Europe is really like.

    Brian.

Jack, Nice to see your interest in politics. Jack you are not alone among your age group, I doubt many young people have over time cared for or taken much notice of politics. I myself couldn't have cared less until I was in my 30's. My own grandchildren are in your age bracket, thankfully they are politically aware with strong views on how they see there futures, many of there friends are also of strong political persuasion. So Jack my advice would be look closely at all arguments, and keep an open mined, and don't despair at your young friends for you are no different to us at your age, it is society that has changed.

#33 Jack you are never a lone voice. If you don't speak out you will never be heard and will have to learn to accept all the abrasions that come with it. You are in a profession where it was rare to hear a seaman saying nothing even though it may have been complaints about weevils in his bread, but they certainly weren't frightened of standing up and saying so. I had numerous arguments with shipowners and at one time on being offered command of a big ship then, 37000 ddwt. told him to stick it up his rear end sharp end first. There comes a time when you don't have to follow the herd, if everyone in the UK used their vote the way they thought right you might see more and better decisions made in the UK, this feeling of lethargy if allowed into the most important decision the UK will ever make, should not be allowed to happen. People have to make themselves heard. People like yourself have to make your feelings known from the highest Mosque if necessary. This is going to be the one and only free vote you are ever likely to get before coming under the patronage of Brussels. JS

like Brian, I am also against remaining in Europe, for some of the the same reasons, having being bombed out of house and home on three seperate occasions in three different parts of the country. However my main reason is purely economic, people state that Europe is our biggest trading partner and we would lose out if we left, we would not, we are being stifled in our trading abilities with the rest of the world by high tariffs imposed on anything imported from outside the EC, exports - Europe would still want our goods make no mistake about that, there maybe an initial anti-Uk feeling in the beginning, but that would wear off when they realised they were cutting their own throats. Our trading opportunities with the rest of the world would increase as former commonwealth countries resumed mutual advantage trading. Our financial standing would improve by not having to pump millions of Sterling each day into system where-in we get little or nothing in return which goes to support countries which cannot be bothered to manage their own economies. The money saved could be used to bolster our woefully inadequate forces and defence systems and with the abolishment of the Human Rights Act we could be in a better position to say who could and could not enter our country both legally and illegally and strenghten our country for future generations. I could go on, but I think you have got my gist.
