. I will certainly enjoy the trip,
We call at an Island in the Tabuaeran. where the people there must be the Poorest in the whole world,
They have NOTHING, No electricity, so no TV, Mobiles, Ipads, Computers, lights etc, No Fresh Water, so No taps, No Toilets, No bathrooms, etc. No Shops, No transport , No hosptals, a missionary Nurse in there just for First Aid, Just NOTHING. a Crap? they just walk into the Lagoon and dump there. So for us No Swimming.
Their homes are just a wood platform, Palm fronds for a roof and a rattan mat that rolls down at night as a wall, No furniture, The Home usually blows away in the rainy season. so they build another one.
The ship usually leaves them half a dozen plastic water Barrels to collect rain water to drink. and some cases of food to keep them going. Because of their very poor diet all the kids have brown or black teeth and by the time they are in late teens or twenties their teeth fall out. No Calcium in their diet as there is No Milk..
If no water they drink Coconut milk, for food they only have Coconuts and fish, there are a few suckling pigs tied up to trees I have been there twice before.
The People are very happy to see us, They sing and dance, and not complain of their situation, some of our people should go there and see those people who really have Nothing. Money is No use to them as there is no where to spend it.
We are taking a case of childrens clothing with us, shorts, Tee shirts and girls dresses, pencils and writing paper etc.
When we leave we feel very humble that these Cheerful people who have NOTHING ARE SO HAPPY WITH THEIR LOT.
Hope you enjoyed that story, and that is why I have no time for people who complain in Britain about food banks. It is a wonderful education to see that,
Cheers
Brian
