Re: Cash and crash
HI shipmates, A couple of my friends GLYN and AUDREY both over 70yrs+ used the hole in the wall for the first time last week a bank counter person had to show them how to do it, they have a mobile phone but wont use it a computor is beyond them wont learn why they say they scare of it? He was a lorry driver for 40 + years she worked in a shop both lovely people, but dont like new technology how many more like them in the U.K.? The government runs programs to help people like them but is the horse and water one this time.

Re: Cash and crash
Santander is a Spanish Company,
I withdrew all my money out of there a few months ago as I would get a better interest rate in RBS.
Gordon Brown sold Bradford and Bingley and Alliance and Leicester to Santander and I lost all my money, I had a lot of shares in B&B.
Cheers
Brian.

Re: Cash and crash
HI SHIPMATES, I was like my friends GLYN and AUDREY but someone gave me a hand up, on the modern day stuff , In work I was sent on a course a few years back My first day the course was for a week I was put on a computor to learn and hit a few keys but soon got fed up of it and switch the machine off, all the machine were linked I turned them all off the doctor, lawyers, and business people were not very happy with me I had some very bad looks and a few swear words, but the teacher was very please with me? he said when you mess it up do it big -time he had a very strange life but thats his story, Well after that I soon got the hang of things and done well out of 20 on the course we all passed but 4 of us passed top of class. I was one with a doctor / bank worker/ council boss / me ex seaman and jack of all trades. moral of the story if i can do it any one can,. All you need is to make a mistake and you do it right.

Oh!Marian, sounds so familiar, they've also had the humour gene removed, they think repartee is a mis-spelling of big settee

Re: Cash and crash
I asked Santander for a credit card, as I often go to Spain or Tenerife o holiday. I have been a customer since Bradford ad Bingley days, over 30 years, and because I have got nothing on credit, I was knocked back. they told me to reapply in 6 months, so instead I put my ISA into premium bonds, and got 3 £25 prizes, I thought why should I let them use my money at a poor rate of interest, when I have a slight chance of winning a bit on the premium bonds. I have a Travelex card from the Coop travel shop which is free, and I just put Euros on it, and use that on holiday, it saves carrying cash, you can use an ATM to withdraw cash as well, and there Is no service charge.I wonder if I may qualify for a brown envelope for all this info!

Re: Cash and crash
Ron, would you by chance have the "Premium Bonds" sight address.? I have 50 pounds worth sitting in my desk that have not been checked since I came to Canada over 40 years ago. I had forgotten them, but knowing my luck there won`t be any great surprises!!!!
