Les, you and I are now on different sides of a political fence but I do nbot decry you or anyone else for their political views. Like you I was an entrenched Labor voter as a young man even writing to Harold wilson to say what a great job I thought he was doing. Sadly it was the unions in UK, brewery draymen, who changed my way of thinking back in 1972. I had two pubs at the time, one with a 30 seater restaurant. There was a brewery strike, the darymen went out. The manahed houses owned by the brewery could not get deliveries, but the union agreed that the tennanted houses such as mine could come to the brewery and collect beer. With the iad of a customer and a van we arived at the brewery and collected half a dozen kegs, the strikers including our regular delievery guy helped us load up.
That night the local police seargent and his wife arrived for dinner, but outside unbeknown to me the draymen had set up a picket. The seargent said to me no worries it will be fixed. five minutes later thye were gone after he had a word with them. That changed my thinking about unions and Labor and have never voted for them since.

But there is now little to diferenciate from the two, both make wild exagerated promises they jnow cannot be kept but sadly enough of the public fall for them. Maybe a dictator who is removed every four years and done away with would be better, each would have to try and do better than the last.

In Harold Wilson's cabinet in 1967 , Richard ( Dick ) Crossman MP For Coventry was leader of the House then in 1968 Secretary of State for health and Social Services , he was the only member of that cabinet to live in property worth less than £100,000 , which was soon lost as he moved house , In 1968 you could but quite a nice detatched house in South Shielsd for under £3000 . That was the point where I became disillusioned with the Labour movement , and looked into how many Public School / Oxbridge men were in there knowing what was best for the working classes , too many for my taste .

Believe me John we are not both on the opposite sides of a political fence. That has been the problem between us because it implies that I am an ardent ALP supporter while you are a died in the wool Lib. How many ways can I say this. I do not like either one and resent the implication that I do. As for most unions as said before they to are on the nose as well. As an example Nurse's who fight for better conditions and work all sorts of hours in tough conditions gain a better deal for themselves the along come the bludging teachers union claiming that they also should be awarded the raises and conditions that the nurse's have fought for. That is just one of many examples as to why some unions are on the nose as well. The only union that I am interested in is the one between myself and the sheriff.

#1... Hitler didnt get into power by invading other countries, he was already in power with the full knowledge and collusion of the majority of German citizens. He did not declare war on Britain we did on him re our agreement with Poland. Its after they get into power these idiots take the law into their own hands so to speak, you only have to look at most governments to see that they do as they wish when get power. Les it is OK if we see things in a different light, that is good for all. trade union movement when it came into being was good, it fought for the workers many of whom where being exploited by unscrupulous employers. But things have improved and now many companies value their staff and look after them well, after all a lot of time nad money has been invested in them. But then the union bosses saw a way into gov, and that Les I think we both agree on is when the rot set in. Into gov with their nose in the trough and bugger the worker now, I am all right Jack. Then we get ex union bosses in gov who rorted their members when union officials. there are still aresa where unions do good and i am not opposed to them, just the bad ones. So yes Les we do have a lot of common ground as we both hate the waste and gold plating of MP's.
Here in Victotria the ambos are pushing for a pay rise which the gov have said should only be at th erate of infaltion. Last year talking to a union official in the ambos union and he told me something most of the public are not aware of. The last Labor gov in Victoria set in place rules whereby no public servant including ambos ahould get a pay rise higher than inflatoin, this premier was a died in the wool union supporter, makes you wonder!

John S I fully agree with you mate but the crux of the matter is the penis heads in power are not leaving much choice for the voters are they if they want to give the incumbent party a big shake up so if the UK does end up with UKIP and they work out to be the wrong choice it will still be a victory for the people in showing how on the nose the current lot is. Think all that is being asked is for them to see what damage they are doing towards democracy and pull their bloody socks up and do what they are paid to do and look after the British people first.

if and only if ukip do make headway in government and if only if we do get out of the eu there will be hard times to come maybe a few years but as ever we will get back on our own feet? the eu of today is far from what we signed up for years ago when it was the common market and our Britain as we knew it has been chipped away by other countries so when do you say enough is enough we need to govern our own land we are being invaded every day even in wars that never happened ?jp

UKIP leader Nigel Farage is bidding th quash claims that his party is not racist by unveiling black and ethnic candidates this weekend.But on Friday he branded Romania as a nation of gangsters as he stood by comments that he would be worrried if migrants moved in next door.He said "We've opened the doors to countries that have'nt recovered from Communisim and I'm afraid it's become a gateway for organised crime"
