Re: Unemployed.
Aww but the Ferry Inn is no more , the ladie have retired to raise their Great Great Grandchildren , and Newcastle Exhibition never tasted the same after the brewery pasteurised it back in the 1980s . There is work out there though , the British Farmers cannot ever get fruit and vegetable pickers to work seasonally a forteen hour day for a minimum wage , the door knockers can never get enough door to door commision only double glazing men , and the local tip can never get enough waste separation pickers to work in their stinking sheds for a minimum wage either . At the Food Factory I worked at for over two decades , local lads liked to work Monday to Friday and a lot did not like working Saturdays and Sundays , they did not like the six o'clock start either , so we drifted into polish , african and other foreign nationals , Why , because they were less trouble , they worked when we wanted them to work , and minimum wages were good for them . There were some , not all by a long shot , locals who had to go out with their mates on Saturdays and get smashed , so needed Sunday in bed . I noticed a few years ago there was a drink culture amongst young british kids , that centred on cheap vodka , and getting paralytic , we employed a few , and the few , made it harder for the many , as the foreign workers did not have this culture , so the production became reluctant to take British lads on .

Re: Unemployed.
Did it not become law that the maximum that could be worked was 38 hours per week.Tobe honest if i worked monday to friday I would look forward to the weekend off,all work and no play no good.I know a chap this is his first job in a factory (he was always in the building game) he has to work week ends and late nights to make his money into a decent living wage,so his days of playing golf every weekend with the lads has gone.If he just worked Mon-Fri he would'nt be able to play golf anyway because he would'nt be able to afford it.I did'nt know until last night after talking to my grandson that the adult minimum wage dose'nt start until age 21 I always thought it would be 18.He is 20 and on an apprenticeship he gets £104 per week.
Regards.

Re: Unemployed.
Year 21 and over 18 to 20 Under 18 Apprentice*
2013 (current rate) £6.31 £5.03 £3.72 £2.68
2012 £6.19 £4.98 £3.68 £2.65
That is the current rates .
All the local Churches here run things , Mothers and toddlers , babies and mums , out reach events , we as a Church last year had a series of outreach events , Pantomime , Cannon and Ball , magic shows etc . There is always food laid on , and people who run and take part in the events do it for the pleasure of serving the community , The evangelism is so low key a lot of people miss it altogether . But it can take ten years or more to reach someone with your faith , sometimes never , but it does not stop you trying

The quote 'let them eat cake' was hardly Biblical, it was uttered by Marie Antionette after being informed that the peasants were starving during the French Revolution. Shortly afterwards she was a guest of Madame Guillotine.
