    Default Unemployed.

We are led to believe that there is work out there if you want it and the lazy unemployed dont want work and are quite happy to lay in bed all day and pick up there jobseekers allowance at the end of the week. This goverment want to get into the real world there are thousands of people out ther who want a job and there just is'nt one out there for them.Look at this story 1.500 chase 40 jobs, this is',t just one story this repeats itself many times in one week.
    Regards.

Hi shipmates, Many jobs on offer in job centre are bogus , or zero hours contract, or were fill last year , real jobs are in very short supply... Many ex students with good degrees will never pay off they loans no jobs for them... in the U.K.

I do believe that this is a problem that is almost Worldwide, and as said there are thousands that are wilfully seeking employment, but there are not enough to go around!
However we all do know that there are also many many who just have no interest at all in getting any kind of work, and are more than happy to just collect Dole payments!
Take for example here n Australia,so many young and healthy chaps that just Surf all and every day ,with no intentions at all of working!
There are the others too that just do drugs every day ,smoke Pot and cause all sorts of misery to the community, breaking and entering, bashing the older folks in their homes, not caring a damn at all !
The Aussie Government is (and has been for some time now) looking at starting a way in which these sorts will only get the dole if they look for work, but so far this seems to not be working as it should!
I wonder what the answer is!
In South Africa, the dole is not a lot at all ,and it is only paid for a period of Six Months, thereafter you must get work or starve! Then once you have worked for a futher Six Months you can then get the dole again!
Don't really know if this is the answer, but it does help to an extent there!

Yes as said there are those who do really want to work, and just cannot get placed, and for these people I feel sorry for as most have Families to support etc!

The Governments should look more into this, and try and resolve the issues at hand!
    Cheers

    Just my views!

Hi , Lou, Hope all is well in your world mate, I agree fully with your comment on zero hour contracts for our youth it's an absolute disgrace. Ask yourself a question ? What these days would you call or describe as the ordinary working man in the U.K. At one time he would work in lets say our port complexes Seaman/ Docks/ Textiles/ Haulage/ Ships Stores/ Tobacco/ Manufacturing/ Factory Workers/ British Rail/ British Gas/ British Electric/ Local Council and all the 1.000s of tradesmen that they employed the country over/ Bakery Workers no big supermarket consortium with the monopoly paying a pittance wage/ Local shopkeepers/ Dairy Workers with milk floats/ National coal board workers/ Miners/ Brewery Workers/ The list is endless and there was work for everyone. These where jobs were you didn't have to be the brightest button in the box. Yet each to there own they all got bye. There are many i haven't listed far to many to mention here on Merseyside we had 2 football pools firms that employed hundreds Littlewoods and Vernons we had Tate @Lyle sugar and all the spin off companies Pendletons/ Walkers/Walls/ all employing local people and both making a profit and paying a wage. They all had one thing in common they had a trade union behind them they werent all militant far from it they had their members interest at heart and worked side by side with company management and it worked for both sides. The working man and community spirit is dead and gone. Here on Merseyside if you got yourself a reputation as a burglar and lay about the local community sorted you out before the police were ever informed. My how things have changed. Regards Lou Terry.

When I was retired, Anne had a very good flower shop, One day a lad came in looking like Syd Snot, He had safety pins through his nose and ears, Tattoos, and the biggest Mohican haircut I have ever seen painted red and green.
"Any Jobs Mrs,"? he shouted. she said No. `Ok sign this for us` he says.
It was a piece of paper with the names of all the shops along the main road and their signatures on. She signed it. I said, try the Undertakers next door they always need a hand to carry the stiffs` Good idea , he says and disapeared.
He had no intentians of finding a job looking like he did, but he had got his quota of businesses he had called on in his "Search" for a job. that would keep him going on Job Seekers Allowance.
    .
Some are genuine, a girl called in and she was looking smartly dressed, very pleasant and very keen to learn and she worked for us for three years until she got pregnant and had to leave.
My eldest lad left University with three degrees and was unemployed for a long time then working in a warehouse for a while sweeping up.
He eventually got a good job in Communications dealing with NATO.
So they do have to keep trying.
The big problem now is more and more immigrants are coming in. Bliar let millions in. a Labour MP last week said on TV there are another five million immigrants expected to arrive here.
So British people have to compete with all that. There are too many people and not enough jobs to go round which ever way you look at it.
    Cheers
    Brian.

To be honest: I would not get out of bed for £7 an hour, that is near now minimum wage ?

I pay my chauffeur more than treble that !

There is another group of bludgers in the mix called single parents. Here in Oz they get to stay on it until their youngest turns 8 then back on the dole for them. Can go to any pub during the day and there they are not only drinking but also purchasing a meal. Not once a week but every bloody day. When working I could not afford to do that once a week let alone every bloody day. July will be coming around and the government will be doling out about thousand dollars for each kid which will not go to the upkeeping of the kids for sure. Mind you there is the argument that there are plenty of single parents that do the right thing for their kids. So these bludgers like the dole cheats make it harder for the ones that are genuine and when the government of the day tries to crack down on the bludgers it is always the fair dinkum ones that get caught in the net.

My personal view towards lack of employment is that we all grew up when manual labour was in high demand shortly after the war hence the baby boomer generation like ourselves. Now that technology has reduced the need for so many workers on the coal face there is not the need for so many workers. So the gap between the have's and have not's is widening which in turn leads to more corruption on both sides. One side trying to survive in life and the other side trying to get as far up the ladder so that they do not fall foul of the dreaded axe everytime it is wielded. That my friends is why within the workforce of today no one is prepared to stand up for their rights but are turning into anus lickers to further there position on the ladder which is in turn giving untold power to those near and at the top. Hence the CEO's and politicians being able to do what ever they so please and like sheep everyone is following them. I am just glad that I grew up when people had back bones.
That's the way the mop flops.

My thanks to Brian for this site.
