    Default Not guilty your honor

Here in Oz we have three MP's up on fraud charges. One state has been charged with misuse of his parliamenatry car on 24 occasions when he has used it to transport goods to customers of his hardware business.

One feral MP, ex speaker of the house and now out of office, has 12 charges of misuse of his parliamentary petrol card.

The third, also an ex feral member, faces some 524 charges of misuse of his credit card when head of the Health Workers Union prior to entering parliament. The misuse includes procuring of prostitues and pornographic videos, buying gifts for family and friends on the card. The money on the card came from union dues paid by union members.

All charges against the first MP have now been dropped. The Public Procecutor has ruled that as the alleged offences were made using parliamenatry funds there are no laws under which he can be procecuted. The other two are now expected to get away with it on similar grounds.

Had that been a member of the public misusuing company funds I am sure they would have been procecuted.
But the one law for all does not extend to MP's it would appear.

Little wonder the public are cynical and despise them, how can we trust any of them.

During election times many MP's are accused of 'Pork Barreling', that is gaining favours for their electorate in the hope of gaining votes.

An apt term I think, as most of them are Pigs with their noses firmly stuck in the trough.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Should look at the cases being dealt with in NSW with that many charges doing the rounds the media can not keep up with them. Point in Question is the ex mining minister that gave away mining leases to ministers that made millions if not billions out of the deal. This will of course die a natural death in case to many from all parties get caught up in it. As you say one rule for them and another for us. How about them wanting to lift the retirement age to 70 yet they can retire on full pension for life after only doing eight years (and that number is written on a rubber band) plus start a new position to keep their parasitic ways.
That's the way the mop flops.

My thanks to Brian for this site.

strange thing is these guys get to keep all their super-pension rights, gold card, free transport by air & if applicable office ph's you name it. The mining one is a hoot, that has been known in the industry for at least between five & ten years so if it is so wide spread how come nothing was done under Carr?
Everyone knows it is a rort there was a tremendous book out on Askin. It was written by an investigative journo from Melbourne many years ago. Now that is something to read, it lists-details his naughty behaviour collection of kick backs often by his driver on a weekly basis. Just mind blowing so why would anything have changed?
The mining one bet that money is in Lebanon & wonder if the a/c will be held accountable, ha ha ((: good word that?

Is'nt the U.K. great, to think that we only deported our criminals to Aussie yet now we find that we have exported our Parliamentarian ideals as well.
Is there ever going to be a big enough cess pit to throw all these tossers in.

Hi shipmates, Our M.P.s in the U.K are above the law. so get away will all the tricks, and cons, they do in there private life, Till dipping and fraud wont get into the media.unless they are not wanted by the higher ups, The courts are powerless against them because they can change the law, see Ian Duncan smith , court case for details. we have rule by the elite today in the U.K.

#6.. Louis, real and proper Democracy was introduced to the world by the Greeks. When first used as a system of government everyone had their turn irregardless of station in life, so only had a couple of weeks at the top. With the present day system used by the so called free world the ruling power has years to drain the coffers and set themselves up for life. What gets me is the so called sincerity of some of these bludgers on gaining power on sucking up to the public about honour and pride in their country. They couldn't even spell it half of them. When I first joined this site I came out with a statement that any politician was no better than a dictator, and that a good dictator was just as good and cheaper method to run a country. I was of course shot down in flames. We have in the past 5 or 6 years seen boundless disruptions in the Middle East brought on by this false belief that Democracy cures all, and the interference of the western powers in problems that do not and should not be any of their business. The old Greek idea was the best but of course now impractible due to the large population. The only answer is someway of making the politician answerable to the public who put him/her there. As a postscript although the middle east was/is run by dictators they never had the problems they have now. Cheers John Sabourn

    Hi John.
History will attest to what you say. More people have been killed in Iraq since the Yanks brought so called democracy there than all the years that Saddam ruled. Same in Libya and every country they have Saved.
    Cheers Des

Les there have been time when you and I have not agreed but this time I am with boots and spurs. See another NSW minister has stood down today, wonder where it will all end, if ever
