I was in Guam when my Dad died, my brother and I were together, The Capt. gave us the telegram, would only let one of us go home, so being eldest I let my younger brother go. I didnt get home until 3 months later.
I was at sea again when Mother died, this time it was a phone calll I still didnt get home until long after the funeral, So missed them both.
