Cuts to Police and Armed Forces.
Stop all our kids offering there services for free as in special Police Officer,s unpaid, And stop them joining the territorial Armed Forces. This crew in Westminster would proberbly then bring back conscript,s, The problem with that is it would be Conscription right across the board no matter who your parents are or what Daddy does for a living everyone over the age of 17yrs will be Conscripted into the Armed Forces. Who would then if needed be called to police the streets. Throw a little back at the government that has dragged this country and its citizens living standards down Regards all Terry.

The thing with India is that it is part of the CHINDIA concept. That is China and India are the next major areas of growth and if you want to be part of it you must talk with them.

Police
Just out of interest does anyone have the numbers actually of serving police officers at present. I would assume someone with a brain if could be found in government services would have a formula as to the number as to the head of population. e.g. At a guess take a figure of 1 policeman to every 100 population, say the population is 60,000,000. Then this would require a force of 600,000. Or if 1 to every 1000 population would be 60,000. Does anyone know what dipstick works out the required number of police officers necessary. In the case of the not too long distant past the near resurrection of some of the major cities I believe the numbers were low on the ground. I rather think he should be considering enlarging the force never mind decreasiing it, also judging by the amount of daily crime occurring, someone is living in Disneyland. Cheers John Sabourn

When you talk to serving and past Policemen they seem be-dogged with paperwork , They spend as much time in the Station filling out forms as they do policing the streets , I would have thought that there must be a way to simplify the system to get more time on their feet and less time off the beat .
I don't like Cameron's cuts , I am feeling the pain from them but as an avid "Question Time" viewer , every Labour politician who appears on there wants to re inflate the economy by spending more money and borrowing more , a lot more . I just do not see that we can borrow our way out of trouble , It is a bit like saying I am broke , oh that is OK , I'll go to the Loan company and borrow a few billion pounds , now I am not broke . The cuts I would like to see , and it is one that all the Politicians avcoid is the Civil Servants and local council officials earning over £70,000 a year , They say it is lower than what they would get in the private sector , I doubt that half of them could hold down a job in the private sector , there is where I would cut deepest . I would start with military procurement , the errors they have made have cost millions then .... well it is a wide field .

Cuts to Police and Armed Forces.
John S,#6 I dont think you could look at it as an overall figure as some parts of the country are less populated than others,so look at it county wise.I think that these figures may be before the cuts.
Essex. 3606 police.population around one and a half million.
Merseyside.4516 police, population around one and a third million.
I dont know about cutting the police numbers as far as I'm concerned they shoild be recruiting for what we are about to recieve.Look at the Crimewatch TV show every month, they show 10 mugshots on each show who the police are looking for and you can guarantee that 8 out of the 10 are foreign nationals.just wait until the Rumanians and Bulgarians arrive thats when the crime rate will escalate. We are already suffering from them with the horse meat and they have'nt arrived yet.
Regards.

Numbers
In a rough calculation in the first case that is 1 police officer for every 41,600 persons at this present moment in time, the other figure will probably be somewhere in the same area. Not really overmanned by anyones standards, With a decrease in police officers and an increase in population which is happening on a daily basis, does not appear a vey wise move. There again I have never had a very high opinion of government thinking. There again England being a good law abiding country as it once was perhaps there is little need for law enforcement. And pigs might fly if this is anyones thinking. Cheers John Sabourn.

Police Numbers
Since asking yesterday about how the police numbers were seen by others. I have since made enquiries from a knowing source. Rule of thumb in this state was 1 police officer to every 750 persons, and this I am told was insufficient in some areas. How can there be such a large or massive difference in numbers as shown against police numbers in UK. This is what was considered to be a just workable force in the towns and villages. Beats me how the uk expects to cut back on police recruitment should be the opposite to my thinking. To apply this sort of logical thinking to the armed forces is unthinkable and would not have any guide how many required. So must just cut back as necessary to raise sufficient money and rely on immediate conscription on the worse happening. Believe Roger was a member of the constabulory at one time, does this info match up in the eastern states. Cheers John Sabourn
