Many caterers have rather than buy small amounts and cook and serve seperatey to save offence.

Have taken to just buying and serving halal to all, without telling you posted by Keith

All food served in schools mcdonalds and a few other places are supposed to be 100% halal so when school meals turn up with horse in them you have to ask what else is in there should they run the same test for pork (can we bribe the guy on the test to say everything has pork in it )

When asked many years ago if the coffee was decaf, none of us had a clue to what the woman was on about, the manager who knew even less. told us to tell her all our coffee is decaf, ma'm. Now we all get to eat halal. Ask if the meat is halal, usual response is all our meat is halal, sir.

Please put this on the menu, at the door before I even enter the premises, if it has loads of pork in it, jusI tell me first, I actually like pork, but can order for myself.

If your policy is to sell only halal, to save offending monorities, best be honest and tell the majority.

IF I CHOOSE: To eat, horse, halal. cat or mouse, it has to be my choice.

The problem with the first lie in the food chain , you never know what te next lie is , if burgers stated pork and horse on the label , it genuinely would not bother me , I eat Venison , Rabbit , Pheasant , Mallard , pigeon , Teal , Canada Goose and partridge all from the wild , If I ever shoot a grey squirrel , I have a recipe for that too . It is not about what it is , it is about how it was killed and butchered ,. Animals frightened release hormones into their muscle , and it affects the taste of meat , as does killing male deer , goats and boar when they are in their mating season . Then as all gut contains E-Coli bacteria , I like to know the guts are separated from the meat correctly to avoid massive infection , so what it is is fine , if I know , where it is from is a worry , because I want to know it was not starved , dehydrated , scared half to death , and clubbed over the head till it gave up . I once bought meat from a butcher I knew , it was the leanest brisket I had ever seen , but after boiling for a year was still chewy beyond belief , botswana beef , walked teh African Bush , till it fell down at the Abatoir , no fat , because it was starving I suspect , never bought from that origin since .

No food in Britain should be Halal. it is a cruel way of slaughtering.
But Islamics always have cruel methods.
If an Islamic wants Halal then there are plenty of Halal butchers in the Middle east.Simple.

i object to having someone elses religious offerings forced upon me.
It is not my religion so why are we forced to have it. I cannot eat my kind of meat in Saudi or Pakistan and the same should apply here.
Are they going to force Shariah on us next.?? This is the thin edge of the wedge, Be careful, be very very careful.

John I worked in the food industry in a factory where no nuts were used , but some of our products where the slightest chance of contamination , like yoghurt factories use nuts , carried the warning . That is my main objection , to lie about a big thing what about the tiniest chances that can be life threatening

There was a rather disturbing report here to day reagrding food from overseas sources. In a number of Asian countries antibiotics are added to the feed lot to encourage growth. The problem is that by so doing the meat then carries antibiotic residue. If enough of such food stuff is eaten the person eating can develop a resistance to antibiotics, get sick and you can be in trouble. Research has shown that persons who have lived and eaten in India nad parts of China for over a year have begun to show signs of prostate cancer, the kind that will not respond to conventional treatment apart from surgery.
Sadly the world is more than capable of providing enough food for all, but politics prevent it from happening so countries such as China, Vietnam and others become food bowls for all. Ity is not the food they produce that is the problem, it is the manner in which it is grown that leaves a lot to be desired.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

In the UK a lot of Chickens are sourced from Thailand and Brazil these are fed , in the meal , antibiotic to prevent disease , which will pass into the consumer , and female growth hormone that promotes larger breasts , I kid you not , This gives a faster egg to freezer turn around , . These chickens are turned into the processed chicken , and the butchery and processing is done on the slaughtered birds . The Oval Health mark shows where the Bird is processed , not slaughtered , so you can but a chicken burger with a Norfolk health mark that dies a year ago in Bangkok and has antibiotic and growth enhancer in it . The British Consumer is being conned !!!!!
