Worked on Blue Funnel Ships, discharging them at the Gladstone Dock Liverpool, in the 1960s,70s,they would bring in carton's of clothing for all the big stores like Burtins,Littlewood, many more, thousands of tons in each ship,in and out like Taxi's,then Marks and Spencers, did the same later on.I was in America and Canada last year and all there big stores have the clothes made in China and other countrys, even the Cunard cruise ships and P.O.you think you are buying America gear and it's all made in China, nothing against them country's,that's the way life his.Ken.
    .
. I remember in the 50s our cargoes then were clothing, Suits Dresses, shirts, shoes, woolen cardigans, etc etc all being exported to the States, Australia , New Zealand, South Africa and so on.
Sometimes we got a pair of shoes or a new suit out of it.
Then Kaboom!, all the mills in Lancashire and Yorkshire shut down, Hundreds of Thousands of workers out of a job, 20,000 just in Bolton alone. All the machinery was dismantled and shipped to India,
Again The New World Order, and the Lima Agreement. and so the whole world changed.
    Nothing to do with politics.

The FCUK signs here in Melbourne have been taken down as some said they were offensive.
But the problems of UK are not peculiar to just UK. Today here in Oz it has been announced that there is every possibility one of our motor manufacturers will go under, Holden, part of General Motors is bleeding money. Many of the problems do, but not all, from the trade unions. Here in Oz we have a 24/7 society yet the unions still demand penalty rates for people working weekends or public hollidays. It is hurting business and more and more small ones are going under. The last Liberal gov we had brought in a thing called 'Workchoices'. Under this scheme each worker could negotiate an individual work contract. I am well aware Les that many did not like it, but there were millions who did benifit. Labor back in and we are back to enterprise agreemenst where all workers get the same rate of pay and conditions. That is all well and good, but it means the guy who works hard all day gets the same pay and conditions as the guy who bludges from start to finish. Little wonder more and more companies are going off shore to do business.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.

    Default Britain For Sale.

Our Chancellor George Osborne is also a governor of the European Investment Bank which last october approved the cut-price loan to Ford Otosan.
Ford Otosan is aTurkish company which makes the latest Ford Transit vans at Kocaeli.Mr Osborne backed the huge loan of European Union cash at an interest rate of just 2% to the company in Turkey.Turkey is not even a member of the EU. The outcome of the Turkish company getting this loan meant thet they could tender and did tender and won the contract over Southampton.Ford Southampton will now close with the loss of 1.100 jobs so this will see the end of Ford vans being made in this country. There will be nothing left here the way things are going.
    Regards.

Then the whole Nation should Ban the Van.
The same should apply to every manufacturer who closes down a factory here and starts a production overseas.
Hit them in the wallet. They can only make a profit if it is imported back into the country,
There are many products that I do not buy. I used to love Cadburies Chocolate and Terrys of York choclates, I have never bought one since they made the people here redundant and shipped their production to Poland.
I would never buy a DYSON vacuum cleaner, he shut down here and shipped it out to the Philipines. ETC ETC .
    .
Mail your MP and ask them about the Lima Agreement, and see what the answer is.
All the redundances are not your Party Politics, it has always been the Lima. spreading our Industries around the Planet.
I have mentoned it many times to a lot of people over the years but no one seems to have heard or even cared. That video of Charlie`s` has said it all as it really is, It is bloody frightening what has been going on in our name and yet we have never been informed about it.
