Exactly Rob, to to cast your vote ,you have to vote for a candidate of your preferred political flavour ,in your constituency where you reside. Those who vote by post have the ballot papers sent out to them from your constituency. You have to be on the electoral roll.
So how on earth can ex-pats vote from abroad, unless they are falsely claiming to live in a constituency in the U.K. I have a feeling some of them are getting a proxy here in the U.K.(who declares that they are residing at the same address) to do it for them .Can of worms indeed.

You are absolutely right on the proxy vote Gulliver, but that is also allowed according to the Uk/Gov site. To register abroad they have to have the electoral application signed by another British national living in whatever country they are living in, and if they are concerned that the postal vote would be delayed, such as from OZ, they can legally appoint a person to vote for them by proxy here in the UK. Its in black and white on the site. I think in my first post i expressed my disgust that my relative in Oz was able to vote. So i also think that the voting system is not right either, but its in the rules, daft as they are, regards KT

Proposed Retirement Age.
To be quite honest with you I would rather have the ex pats having a vote rather than the ****** crowd in the Islamic Republic of Tower Hamlets or Bethnal Green who are not citizens of this country but because we are so stupid they are entitled to vote.I once seen a documentary on one of these areas where the council was run by our friends from overseas and the corruption was unbelievable and this is slowly eating away at our country and it will spread like a cancer a gradual thing which creeps up on you and eventually takes over, then its to late!!!!Captain Kong did'nt notice it creeping in on him until it was to late!!!
Regards.

JOHN the only thing with the BNP is the press is branding them as some sort of neo Nazi party when they are not? they are doing what we are thinking and getting slated for it. it will bring all the other races {not british but think they are when it suits them} to come out the woodwork and vote? you imagine all the British ******s voting for a ****** MP the houses of parliament would be serving halal meat on the free meals they get the closest thing we have got is UKIP and they are frightened to say the same things as the BNP we do need a strong party the dos not suck up so as not to rock the boat its sinking anyway but we should go down fighting its to late now they are in the country and stupid laws say you cant say what you think because you would be branded as racist we need a clear out Didi Armin had the right idea sling all the foreigners out strip them of all assets empty all the jails and deport anyone who dos not belong here bo..ocks to human rights make mixed marriages illegal half are only for passports anyway take a page out of the Swiss you are not a national for 12 years after strict scrutiny weather you have kids there or not the camel's back broke years ago and there is no straw left its to easy to get into our land and its the foreigners that want to change our way of life we are the laughing stock of the world at this time close all loopholes this post may to some seem racist and i am the last one to think that i am saying what a lot think? so i will be voting BNP at least they seem to have some backbone

I know what you mean John regarding the BNP. They do have some unorthodox methods but so do the ******s and all of the other shite creeds we have here. However at the end of the day I think there are still more British born citizens and non ****** than there are of the ethnic groups, however I stand to be corrected on that. What I am saying is if we all voted BNP then the powers that be would have to start taking notice of what we the British Public want. Whether it is a lost cause I do not know but in my opinion I owe it the next generations to try and do something about it.

Agree with that one John. Failing to vote should incur a financial penalty.
