Even though we learnt sex education by trial and error in our early years. Just how many of us can sit at home comfortably secure in the knowledge that there will not be a knock on the door from a son or daughter we did not know we had. Especially if one is a practicing RC LOL. We did our utmost to make sure the world stayed populated did we not. Maybe allowing homo's to marry and remain together could be another way of reversing the damage that we done while at sea and afterwards. Just another way of looking at it all.
That's the way the mop flops.

My thanks to Brian for this site.

A very interesting and informative contribution, A lot of it isn,t new to most of us in Liverpool alone these kids are getting younger and younger pushing babies in buggies. But if you look at it from there angle yes they dont know what they are letting themselves in for having children at such a young age. But i honestly think in many parts of the country they see it as an easy option ?????? Have a baby dont declare who the father is and they are on benefits and housed. Dont get me wrong i think its a very sad state of affair,s that any young girl should even consider that life, or should i say see there only way out of a poverish life on the dole. We need a Global strategy, And a very serious debate from all western governments. To change a hell of a lot for our forgotten generation of which most European and Western Civilisation is being infected bye. Its easy for any of us to sit at our p.c. and knock consecutive governments the world over for doing nothink to reverse this. Which i have done but look beyond government. We do need a big society not the David Cameron version. Maybe its time to have serious rethink by people who are not out to tar there own brush but to show a serious interest in the future of our grandkids. There isnt a political party out there at the momment that are capable and i still maintain if things arn,t changed for the better for our ever growing population it wont be long before you have demagog,s comming forward and having influence on these kids. Not to increse or expand there country as Hitler had in mind. But to brainwash them and i can still see at the present time unless things change a free for all society. If these young people want something they will simply go and take it and to hell with the rest of us. Just as we used to say Rob { The end justifies the means} Very worrying times m8 which i have to say this government through to much to soon { Cuts} Has not helped in one bit. Dont let me put off or trash my beutiful City of Liverpool and put anyone off the idea of visiting because its all major cities right across the u.k. You turn your radio on any Monday morning and you will hear of a shooting or a stabbing that has happened over the weekend in all the big cities. DRUGS/ UNEMPLOYMENT/ LACK OF GROWTH/ YOUNG KIDS WITH NO HOPE OF A FUTURE/ BINGE DRINKING TO BLANK IT OUT. Spells disaster. Which is were we and a lot of other countries are heading for. There is no magic wand regardless of which political party is in power in the u.k. Early morning news this morning BBC Young children running to a church hall to recieve a free breakfast or hand out. This wasnt in the Horn of Africa this was Britain. Regards Rob Terry.

After a forty year absence , I started going back to Church to try and make sense of the world , After a startionary car I was sat in was rammed by a midd;le aged woman in a new Nissan that she had only had that day , and mistook the accelerator for the brake my spine was displaced , not picked up and I cot £800 as the whiplash according to the overpaid consultamt wa s temporary a £12,000 operation put my spine back together thanks to my employers private medical scheme some ten years ago , and five years after the slight accident , then My wife became terminally ill . anbd i thought all the World was ..... well I was not happy

I was trying to make sense out of the world , but saw in the Church a bunch of happy kids with morals and polite ways , My 15 year old grandson goes twice every Sunday and to two Church groups in the week , because he wants to , nobody makes him , he mixes with like minded kids , and they all get along . They do things like Duke of Edinburgh's award scheme , they camp , play sport , play computer games , my grandson shoots too . When he leaves the education system he has a lot of things on his CV that shows he is interested in a whole raft of things . I have done several courses on simple theology , and several things along the way , at no time has the Bible Bashers that I grew up to detest ever appeared , no complex sermons that are so high brow that you need to be a bishop to understand them .

I don't go around telling people theat Hey I'm a Christian , I stand for the moral values that I laughed at forty years ago , I try and follow a good simple truthful moral way , if a young attractive woman makes an immoral suggestion , well who knows I may even sin too , I do something against my principles most hours in the day . I don't even say that it is a cure all , but I know it will possibly kick start my grandson into the world , It has given me food for thought too .

I expect flack and negativity from standing up and being counted , I don't say it is the only way , although it is a good way and I do not know another as good , Religion as we see it with the priests sexual depravity , with te acceptance of any morals to fill a dwindling congregation has slowley strangled itself , I belong to a modern thinking , biblical based , non happy clapping Independant Evangelical Church . For me it works , for my Grandson it works , for the country as a whole we have lost the way , and this is one that works for me .

We have one group saying the world is over populated and another, like our feral gov here, giving out $6000 per child in an attempt to increase the population. None of it makes sense. The world will always have it's rich and there will always be the poor, that is how it works. Then we have the Greens here the leader being a memebr of the global 12. These are the onesxwho want to chaneg it all, one world gov, one currency, no poverty etc etc. But look at the EU, what a mess and they want to extend that mess to the rest of the world. The greens here think we should all be sitting under a palm tree weaving grass skirts. Morals are now something that so many have no idea of what they are or wher you can buy them!! The world is filled with good people who go about their daily lives doing the right thing, but there is an element of bad, many who are national leaders, doing their best to stuff it all up. With such situations it is no wonder some of the younger ones are confused. Must go just heard a knock at the door.......................................!!!!!!! !!!!!!!

Its kids like your grandson who are seeking a better way forward that are to be praised, I am a roman catholic i dont practice my faith as often as maybe i should. But as a youngster when i was aged between 12 @14yrs old my grandmother would have all of us grand children at confession, sunday morning mass, Sunday school, evening mass , and the stations of the cross. To be honest with you i was sick to the back teeth of looking at the inside of our local church. So at the tender age of 16yrs i took myself off to gravesend sea school because i wanted to go to sea and see the world and carry on a very long seafaring family tradition. Every sunday you would be invited to the little chapel if you wished to go to sunday mass. And i felt guilty if i never attended out of respect for my grandmother. When we were away at sea most of us werever we were in the world would when your sub ran out visit the padra at the local seamans mission. And there alway,s was and still is a very warm welcome mat rolled out for you at any seamans mission. Regardless of your religeon or beliefs. My own 4 children all grown up now only visit church for weddings funerals or christening,s. My eldest son is a self employed welder, my middle son is a self employed plasterer, my youngest son is employed as a bench hand joiner, and my daughter is a full time mother to 3 grandkids. I wish your grandson well in his own quest in life. And maybe if a few more young people took to the church they may be better people for it. But i still believe you make your own luck in life. Determination and drive is every thing i alway,s told my own kids you can be anything you want to be in life if you want it badely enough. Unfortunately this is not a world to be a young teenager in at the momment. And i cant see a future or the opportunities for today,s youth with that same drive for over a million of them on the scrap heap. Whats the answer i dont know ?? But unless something is done to give them a hand up and not a hand out we are creating monster,s. Regards Rob Terry.

Personally I am not a church goer myself but like yourself I do not push my views on others and it was good to read your post as it is obvious that you have religion now and an open mind as well. I consider myself religious but I do not need buildings or some other person preaching to me. As said in other posts I found religion on the bow of a ship in the tropics and since then I just knew it was just him and I. As for the future generation well an old saying that my mum used to come out with is still very true. You can never put an old head on young shoulders. Are we not comparing the future generation ideals with our old ideals that we grew up with. Taught our kids to be independent and free thinkers which proved a head ache for both of us but they both turned up trumps after making silly mistakes in life just like most of us and the only thing we could do was to be there with a safety net for them. Was hard watching them go through it but it has made them stronger in character and looks like they are passing it onto their kids (our grand kids). That to me is the downfall of a lot of kids of today that the parents try to hard to stop them experiencing life to the full. Here in Oz with the biggest playground in the world our kids are locked in a hermatically sealed invironment and fed pills to keep them in control. I sometimes want to shout out to them. Allow them to fly the coop like we did. Now look at us recalling what a great experience it was. Rob you will not get any ridicule from me for what you posted mate not like the ones that need the props of a congregation behind them and have to fall into line with their views, is not religion to me it is control. Put bluntly Religion is an inner feeling within yourself and does not need to be proved with irrelevant acts or buildings.

I went to Chapel ( Methodist ) twice every Sunday until at seventeen I ran away to sea , well South Shields Marine and Technology College , There Sundays was a day to recover from Saturday , to sleep , to catch up , to go to Jarrow swimming pool as soon as someone could focus enough to drive a car , to take a ( Novelty in 1966 ) Sauna . The day to fix the car so it got you the 500 yards top college next week assuming that you had 5 shillings to buy a gallon of petrol , hey I was free , from the Dont Drink the demon alchohol . dont fornicate , dont .... sermon that hit us kids twice weekly . We never understood what the fires of hell and the brimstone was all about , spit on the pavement and you would go straight to Hell , where the devil was waiting to tortuure you with more sin . Well sin was Beer , Booze , wild women , and enjoying yourself , and it was going to be warm there as well , so a little sin never seemed too bad . Then on the East African coast every Padre seemed as Queer as a nine shilling note , the Ports in South America had one fat comfortable person in amongst the rabble , he was well fed and cared for and he wore a dog collar .

Whebn I returned to Church , I felt ( still feel ) that I have been to another planet , Some have been pious all their lives , some appear pious , me I carry my mistakes , I regret my sins , and my wife has surely gone on to a better place , and after four decades of dodging her rollockinga , I would not mind meeting up again some day . I believe there is a heaven and a hell , and wonder how many of those pious perfect churchgoers of my youth are in the place that I am trying to head for . I suspect thta Hell has a special extension built by itinerate travellers for them to live in !!!
