Matadi @1977
Hi everyone out there,
Need to prove I was in Matadi on Dumurra back sometime in 1977, on the NAWAL service. Remember loading Zinc Ingots for Toledo. My missus Joan was with me. Have destroyed my passport for that time but do have my discharge book. A Crew List would do the trick but I doubt that such a document would have lasted the years! Any ideas would be welcome.
Cheers all Mike (Spike) Hayes

Re: Matadi @1977
Mike Ships Nostalgia website has quite a bit about Elder Dempsters on it. There is a section covering crew lists.
Hope this helps.

Re: Matadi @1977
Hello Mike Hayes
You could try the following site for Crew Lists, but I would first Email them and ask if they have that actual Voyage (give the Year and Ship etc)
Then if they do you can then go ahead and order it!
I got all of my Crew Lists of my Ships there from 1958 and 1959.
If I recall quite a few others also got theirs from Canada I know that Mike Hall also did!
Cheers

Re: Matadi @1977
Good to see there are some Elders of Elders 'out there' (my new thread of today refers). My one and only visit to Matadi was on ED's 'Sangara' in '58. Fellow cadet was Mike Kelly with who I am still in regular contact.image0-4.jpg Picture relates to the second time we sailed together on the Obuasi in '60.

Re: Matadi @1977
Hi Graham, I was also in Matadi, latter half of 1958. We copped the start of the riots, and Third Engineer and I were chased halfway back to Ango Ango, the tank farm. How was your visit?
