John, its not just ME saying it, it's the USNavy, the USCoastguard, plus submersible experts and your oft quoted Mr Cameron, of course they had to continue the search, until there was no chance of the occupants being found alive, because that's what SAR do, people and authorities need answers. I am afraid you will have to open your mind on this one.

i just hope there end was quick so they would have known nothing about there end of life but i must comment that the sub was not that deep in the depth that this happened but the loophole that allows these things should be stopped? jp

They estimate just over 10,000 metres, that's 5.7 miles and approx 1hour 45 minutes into the dive when the implosion occured, that is deep no matter which way you look at it.

If the barely discernible photo is supposed to be her Marian. Then it isn’t. The photo on my App is her. But since I left the fire monitors on the foremast have been removed and she had a heli deck put in their place. Maybe to carry all those diamonds ashore . Think she may be long gone by now .

Jeez john the plates were so thin ......we walked them on tiptoe in 1959 when i joined her in wallaroo ......athough she was homeward bound many had skinned out in wallaroo....we had belgians swedes norskes and ozzies a proper last minute crowd to get her away.. she was in one bad way ....as said before the chinese took her on the tyne and sailed her for many more years .....she was one old lady ......but like a lady in an agentinian honkey ...ie tanker joes ....she was well and truly battered.....but she got me home after a great adventure and learning curve that stood me in great stead in my future years....happy memories...hope you and gwen are standing fast.. old age is one time not to be taken lightly but that is part of the rich pattern ......best wishes and regards will drink one for you and gwen tonight ......R683532 CAPPY

#58 Thats her Marian thanks , one of the best jobs in my seagoing life . Money or not. Sailing with good people and those who knew what was expected of them. Both RN and MN. And still able to joke in most situations . JS
#59 as said Cappy once before she came into work from Doxfords in Sunderland in 1944 was. The second merchant ship into Singapore after the japs gave up so the first ship in must have been worse as probably both sent in to see where the mines where and were dispensable. Poor old Runcimans could only afford 3 cylinders in those days . How’s your old arthritic bones doing not making soup with them yet? Off to hospital tomorrow hope they don’t expect to stick up any more cameras , have now got taxi chits from the government so will get there half price, will have to try them in the pub as well and see what happens .
