Re: The great reset
James, you appear to forget one thing about the 'landed gentry' you obviously despise.
Many of these people own and operate the companies that provide the much needed work for the majority of the electorate.
It is these industries owned by these people that provide much of the countries wealth.
No companies, no work no wealth, not rocket science in my mind

I tend to agree with this quote. These "selfish rich and landed gentry" are the fatcats that are trying, and succeeding, to level us down to the lowest level. It was the main cause for Brexit happening, when average Joe felt that the UK was being swamped with cheap labour, and the levelling up, was in fact, levelling down.
Now we're paying the price for being in the EU in the first place, with left, and right wing gov.uk. We don't need a pencil to work out where all our money is going after all the inflated cost of living hikes do we? making so many people so poor.
Remember, every penny we earn and spend, ends up in somebody's bank account, ie the fatcats.

Re: The great reset
John it is not the landed gentry I dispise , it is how they became LANDED GENTRY. Take time out and read the attached article.
https://whoownsengland.org/2017/05/0...nnual-subsidy/
This is how a lot got wealthy , join the Army or Navy head off for a war somewhere get your troops to slaughter a few locals and head back home. The king or Queen will reward your gallant efforts with an estate run by tenanted farmer and sit on your **** while others did the work. So is that the type of jobs you mean John that the landed gentry create. Or how about closing down the business and moving it off shore to take full advantage and exploit the low cost labour markets, seemed to work for Dyson International.
We often hear about the revival of British ship building. Ship building is very unlikely to become competitive in the UK again because of costs. It should never have been allowed to degenerate the way it did. No doubt there will be a few here will say it was ALL the fault of the Unions. It was the fault of the Unions and poor management. Also poor design and build quality. By the time naval architects woke up and caught up the boat had already sailed.
Company managers or in a lot of cases mis managers along with some elements of the work force have a lot to answer for. The classic spend a ;ot of money on R&D then flog the ideas off to the Chinese or Koreans and Americans.
Greed has been the down fall of the UK and it's work force. Nothing left to sell now though !!!!

Re: The great reset
A man was strolling on a track minding his own business, he was approached by the land owner and asked what He was doing ? He replied walking. The owner told him that He was not allowed to do that as He owned the land and that it was private. The stroller aked the owner where he had got the land from ? The owner replied He had inherited it from His Father. The stroller asked where His father had got it from? The owner replied that it was an inheritance that had been passed from Father to son for many generations. The stroller then asked where the the original owner had got it from? The owner replied that He had fought for it. The stroller then replied well I will fight you for it !!!! I guess there is a moral there somewhere ? One thing is for sure that a lot of the landed estates in this country were appropriated in this way by various invaders from Norman the conqueror onwards. They then passed laws to make it a crime to usurp them or there descendants. I am not trying to advocate anarchy or civil insurrection by the way as most of the arguments in this thread seem to be about those that have and those that do not. I added this post as an after thought.

Re: The great reset
Your right there John there are some who decry their supposed citizenship of. The country they lay claim to. If it is so undesiruous to them why not make post haste elsewhere . However at the moment if they decide to make it the Commonwealth they maybe unacceptable as have to make another oath of allegiance and being honest citizens would never do that ? JS

Re: The great reset
hi john #50
good morning, your shock and surprise regarding the lock downs proposed by both these labour councils, and the response you would expect from the ratepayer or citizen of those cities, im afraid there will be non, As oxford alone being a seat of learning together with reading with their vertue signaling councils is preaching the religion of the green agenda and therefore all must bow at the altar or forever be castigated by the left as a nonbeliever and shouted down and cast out until they are re-educated in the vertue signalling context of the green agenda,
i am though not surprised at your appetite and your wish to converse in political dogma, especially in this countries politics,as it was your place of birth with long lasting memories, but i applaud your open mindness and your eagerness to participate, for after all it easy to run out of conversation in one particular subject and it is therefore necessary to fully excise your mind and mental capabilities, as closing or shutting off your mind to interesting and educational contemplations only comes about when you are being brainwashed in one particular ideology or other.

More unfounded statements, lets have some meat to the bones instead of the unsupported claims you make.
Only in the UK does the green eyed monster loom, you hear nothing about the large farms in Australia or the large Ranches in the USA, or maybe you just want collectives as per Russia?

Re: The great reset
Really Vic , concerning ship building okay you explain what killed it. Companies that carry out Research & Development then sell on the the designs and plans to foreign companies. How about just selling the whole company as well. Below is an article from the Daily Mail 2013

Re: The great reset
So the question, who owns the land on which you sit?
Here in Oz the Aboriginal nation lay claim that the land was stolen from them by the British when the first fleet arrived in 1778.
But the fact is no one owns the land, it is there for all mankind, and the ladies.
There is not a country on this planet that at some time has not been invaded or taken over by another, no one is saying that is right, just a pure and simple fact.
As to business going off shore, a practice undertaken by many countries, and in some instances you may be shocked to see who does what.
We have all purchased clothes with a label inside, 'Made in China' think again.
The greater majority of that is made in Cambodia, outsourced by the Chinese as wages in Cambodia are lower than in China.
For any business to survive in the global village it must take advantage of any aspect of the business that can be produced or obtained at a lower rate.
Most businesses are owned by the stock holders and they must be given the best deal available.
As to what has happened in the past, that is in the past and cannot be undone.
Many countries benefited from invasion, and yes some were enslaved but that is the nature of man.

#59. History is not there for us to like or dislike it is there for us to learn from. If it offends you then even better....because you are less likely to repeat it.
It is not anyone’s to erase ....it belongs to all of us.
If Socialism is so good and capitalism is so bad, then why aren’t the caravans heading to Venezuela ?
